Not trolling just curious. I’ve never gotten into the F13 series. I’ve seen all of them, I think but never felt compelled to watch them over and over like my beloved Elm Street films. So seriously, why has the films and character (Jason) endured? What am I missing in the movies? And were you disappointed with the remake because I saw it and thought, it’s just like any other Jason movie.

He is supposeidly the Springwood Slasher but yet he only goes after teens in their 20s.

If he killed a kid on screen that would be very very dark and more people would take Mr. Kruegar more seriously.

Jaws ate a kid why cant Freddy kill one?

Do you think it will be Unrated? Hopefully it has tons of features. … and not Blu Ray exclusive features.

…I’m tempted to see it. Sometimes it sucks being a horror fan!

I know i shouldn’t buy into the trailer/tv spot hype. But I fell for the Friday the 13th remake, and Chainsaw remake before that, and to a lesser extent The Amityville Horror remake, and all were pretty forgettable films with Chainsaw and Friday being boring, and Amityville being too impatient and hyper paced to be scary. Soulless is the best way to describe the films as well, you knew they were in it only for the money and not making a decent film.

I’m not against making money from movies, that’s what the entertainment industry is all about. Making money be it from movies, music, video games or books. But it’s nice when heart is put into the material and then it makes money as a result of being good and striking a nerve with the public. Naive i know to think that, but some passion for the material is important instead of just dollar signs.

So i am torn on what to do with this film. Even though there is tons i disliked with Platinum Dunes previous films. There are still little bits and pieces I did like in them(either a scene or shot),but overall I find their films dull and just no fun to watch at all, that i’m bored when trying to review them. They don’t hold up to repeated viewings at all, and that’s the ultimate film crime!

I’m sure Nightmare will be more of the same from them. But a part of me wants to be proven wrong, and give it a fair chance instead of prejudging before I see it. But i’ve been burned by the studio in the past, and i’d hate to be duped again.

Everyone complains about the mime mask (Adam Brody, Ricki Lake, and Brad Renfro [before his death] have called it a Disney mask) in this film (true story; Ricky mentioned it in one of her ’94 shows), but it makes sense in the plot. Myers is burned and unconscious for 10 years. He also steals a new mask from the store. It makes sense that it wouldn’t be the original mask. It’s part of the actual plot. Why so many complaints?

If you have anything to complain about, it’s Halloween 5-the end of the original series where the masks make no sense at all. Because Myers should have the same mask in Halloween 5 that he did in Halloween 4.

At least Halloween 4 fit a new mask into the plot. He could have easily just stole a jester mask or clown mask from the store.

I can understand the complaints, but they are really invalid as the new mask is part of the plot.

Halloween 4 is the last Halloween movie in the series to have a logical plot (even though some of the murders are deeply stupid and the rednecks on the loose bring the film down a notch.)

If the NOES remake is anything like the Friday the 13th remake(which I could not imagine watching with my parents), then it will probably be a movie to avoid watching with your parents.

So, what are the most awkward experiences you’ve had with your parents? It has to be a movie you’ve actually seen with them though, not one that would be bad.

    1. Beowulf in IMAX 3D – the scene where Angelina Jolie comes out of the water was unexpected to see in a PG-13 movie and yeah….it was in 3d and stuff so it was like…awkward

    2. Watchmen – Felt like the one sex scene went on forever…

The Friday the 13th remake was god awful. Complete fail on all levels. Will this be any better? i believe that it will for this reason: Freddy Kruger is an interesting character. A comical, disturbing, psychotic, and immensely entertaining villain. When this character is played by Jakie Earle Haley (a very talented actor) it is a guaranteed success, at least to see him portray this horror icon. Even if everything else in the movie sucks (which wouldn’t surprise me) at least we can enjoy his performance, which i already know is going to be legendary. Friday the 13th did not have this to its advantage, it was relying on everything else (which it failed) im looking foreword to this movie with the hopes that it is a good remake, but i already know it will have a great performance.

He also wants to know what Twi-hards think (so we asked there)? He thinks you’re absolutely nuts and laughs at your nonsense (like the Twi-Hard who was caught with a vibrator in the England theater), but is curious…

Anyways, this dude loves the movie Freddy’s Dead! It’s actually his favorite Elm Street movie beating out the original and part 4. Not really the typical fan, but what can you do… He’s very drunk, so I figured this might be the reason… But, he was actually a sober kid when he saw it… He’s mainstream and not a die-hard horror fan, but loves Freddy.

Now, I won’t be posting my pic anytime soon for you nuts… I’ve invited a few special ones to Facebook, but this is a rarity as I am an important member on campus (IFC/Student Gov.) and don’t really reveal myself. And no… I’m not ugly, I just like to stay hidden to outsiders.

This is about one of my frat members RJ Sekulich (I’m sort of his fraternity boss/fraternity parent, in a way, because I am one of the members of the IFC, he is not)? He doesn’t want into the IFC because he doesn’t want the responsibility. He’s very lazy, but kind of not… He sleeps sometimes 12-14 hours and lounges around watching action/dramas, etc.

He’s an acting/music/business major now and he’s done some performances since he was little. He’s kind of a p**** and is afraid to post his current pic, but we won’t hold that against him. He’s a little shy.

He’s a d***, but a good guy in ways. He has his qualities.

He just wants to know if girls think he was a cute kid? Now… I tell him he is getting more desperate by the day, but he doesn’t have an IMDB account and doesn’t want one.

He says the IMDB is a wasteland for pure morons, but is a little drunk. It’s 6:18 AM here and he wanted to ask. I fell asleep for about 4 hours (1am-5am) but he hasn’t fallen asleep yet.

It’s his old pic from g-static taken years ago.

…i hope this remake is good. Because lets face it, the remakes nowadays haven’t been too great. Like the Halloween remake. Whilst i liked the film, and enjoyed seeing michael as a kid and all, it just wasn’t that great. I enjoy watching it from time to time, but it was nothing special.

Friday the 13th on the other hand, i hated it. It didn’t even feel like a remake, just another sequel. Nothing new was brought to the table and the whole movie is predictable. Which is a shame because Marcus Nispel did such a fantastic job with the Texas Chainsaw Massacre Remake. The TCM remake could almost be my favourite remake ever done. It was gritty, dark, the characters were well developed and well played, it was intense, and although it was a remake, Marcus added a few new things and changed other things to make it its own film. TCM is by far one of the best horror remakes ever made, along with The Hills Have Eyes.

So if you like the Friday The 13th remake, that’s fine. Your allowed to like it, but for me, it didnt work at all. So iv’e got my fingers crossed really hard, because im hoping that a Nightmare On Elm Street will be good.

That remake was made for people who refuse to watch black and white movies, only idiots like it.

You didn’t read my post. I said it wasn’t a good movie, but that it had more artistic merit than Platinum Dunes’ output. It wasn’t made for idiots who don’t like black and white, you’re thinking of the kind of filmmaking done by the team at Platinum Dunes. The director of the Psycho remake was Gus Van Sant, director of "Good Will Hunting" and "My Own Private Idaho" among others. Van Sant is an openly gay, complicated filmmaker with a diverse body of work. His "Psycho" remake, will demonstrably a failure, has the fascination of a big budget student film project. It was a crime of passion, not profit, to borrow a line from "Psycho".

Does anyone else get mad, because I do. They complain that movies arent what they once were and you don’t care about the characters like you did in the old movies and such.. Thats ridiculous because if you think about the classic horror movies, there wasn’t any character development.

Did we really get to know Laurie Strode, Linda or Annie in Carpenter’s Halloween? Did we honestly know Sidney Prescott, Tatum Riley, and the whole gang in Craven’s Scream? All of the horror movies from the 80’s and 90’s are still the same as the movies today. There isn’t a major difference between the character development of the past and today. They all use the same game plan.

I just don’t see why people complain when the old horror films that we praze today had the same dull amount of character development we have in today’s horror films.

    Just a thought..

You got my head spinnin’ 360degrees.
