I shore did — I was totally like, "burn in hell you evil bitch!" That eing said, I think it was total genius to cast someone like Monica Potter in the black widow role. We’ve grown so accustomed to heavyset and masculine women being cast as the antagonist. It would never occur to the average person that a blonde-haired, blue-eyed hotties like Monica could ever be evil.

So I get it, they are on to Songei before anyone else. But how in the hell would they know the exact location of his boat where he is keeping megan?

I finished reading the book today. I put the movie on and…uh…Tracie? Okay. Where’s Sampson? What about the Sanderses? Whatever. Then I see a boy, named Dimitri? Who the heck is that? Okay…Megan Rose??? This is about Maggie Rose Dunn and Shrimpie Goldberg. Not Megan Anne Rose. I shut the movie off after 15 minutes. I’ll go read another book before I watch a terrible adaptation of a book.

    Spoilers Herein:

It took a viewing of both Kiss the Girls, and Along Came a Spider before I realized a huge coincidence. In Kiss the Girls, Cary Elwes stars as a cop helping to find the missing girls, but is actually the kidnapper in the end. Monica Potter does the same in Along Came a Spider. That’s not the ironic thing.

If you watched the film Saw, you would know that Monica Potter and Cary Elwes were husband and wife, and this time were victims of a brilliant serial killer’s plot.

I don’t know why that’s interesting to me, but it just seemed funny that with the two James Patterson book based films, the killers eventually became spouses in a film where a killer hunted them.

    Your thoughts?

I read in the trivia section that due to audience’s negative reaction, the ending had to be reshot. Anyone privy to the orig film ending?

I would go with Kiss the Girls it was more enjoyable. But I still thought Along Came a Spider was good.

What was the point of going from Soneji to Jesse holding Megan captive. She wasn’t involved with Soneji and Soneji was meant to be the mind player of the film, and later in the film, it’s discovered he’s no longer the mind player because Jesse and Devine took the girl from him and took over the game.

Is it just me, or did the movie seem to be a completely different story from the novel. All it did was have some of the same characters and some of the important plot devices. They changed way too much from the book. They got rid of characters! What happened to Sampson? Or Nana Mama? Or Alex’s kids! Why wasn’t the Goldberg kid taken with Megan (supposed to be Maggie, not sure what was wrong with naming the kid Maggie like in the book). What happened to the brewing relationship between Cross and Jezzie. What happened to Jezzie’s dangerous side, or her motorcycle.

This movie isn’t based on the book, it’s more like extremely loosely based on the plot of the book.

actually, i have it written down somewhere because i counted while watching it in the cinema many years ago, but i’m not sure of the exact number,

i think it’s a joke by the cast and crew to cram that damn name in the movie as often as possible,

and on top of that every character prounounces the name differently

I je’s started thinking about this movie a few days ago and this scene stuck with me. Such a great scene.

I’m pretty sure this is when the girl tries to escape, or something and the guy on shore, some random guy tries to go to the rescue and gets taken out quick "Oh SNAP!"

The killer and the hostage had a little exchange of words after the supposed savior was killed off.

    Anybody knows how it goes?

I remember part of it, and if memory serves I laughed a bit.

After leaving the Russian embassy, Cross wants to check out other things, but Potter convinces him to stay and stake the place out.

    Why???

Wouldn’t it have made more sense for Soneji to kidnap Dimitri from Potter’s point of view? Now she could have had Russian agents looking for Dimitri, meanwhile she could have slipped away with Megan. Also, she could have even waited before taking Megan and get both Megan and Dimitri together. There’s a lot more money in that Dimitri.

The only thing I can really think of is she didn’t know Soneji was going for Dimitri, so she was just trying to keep Cross occupied while Devin nabbed Megan.

What would she gain by doing that?

She could of just taken the diamonds and gone after she killed that other fella,

or am I missing something? I mean it’s not even as if she likes killing people or she would have killed her the first chance (after killing the fake teacher) she got.

Why did she even talk to the girl?

That is something i hate about movies an books and stories as a whole. That was a very sophisticated and perfectly orcistarted plan to kidnap a kid from a kidnapper. The most impressive part was how they got the 10 million in diamonds. But like all stories they dont get rid of the evidence and get caught. To be honest they didnt even need the kid to get the diamonds in the first place. The kid had nothing to do with it. Just a silly plot

I hate it when movies have holes that differ gapingly from reality but the producers expect a dumb downed audience that is too stupid to know or care.

The Secret Service exists to protect the executive branch positions of president, vice president, and ex-presidents and their immediate families. They also provide spot duty security for various federally elected public figures during public appearances.

Since when did they start providing a full protection racket for a no name senator’s daughter? The answer is they don’t. Back when Obama was a senator, he had to request secret service protection early while campaigning for the presidency to get granted a full protection racket which he requested through senate leadership.

It really irks me when movies veer so glaringly from real life.

You’re in a box. You see spots.

I never knew that Alex Cross (Morgan Freeman) was the same character from Kiss The Girls!

Hah, I’m shocked at finding this out. Even if this is an "unrelated" sequel, I’m shocked that he was the same character from Kiss The Girls in another movie.

Who else thinks this movie should be remade (into one that’s actually good!) with Denzel Washington as Alex Cross? Gary Soneji would have to be in it more and it would actually have to bear some resemblance to the book!!! And who else was dissapointed with the absence of John Sampson? And out with the random name/profession changes! I’m not sure who I would have play Soneji…anyone have any ideas? What would your ideal remake be like?

Hey guys, I have as of lately taken up reading as a hobby and I just finished up on a book series and I was looking around for a new one a couple of friends recommended the Alex Cross series. I have seen both movies and really didn’t care for neither of them but I konw that the movies adapted from the books are totally different sometimes. Does anyone else recommend the book series to me?

With all due respect to Mr. Freeman, if he had been 10-15 years younger, and had put on a little bit of muscle, he would be just about perfect, as Patterson imagined, I’d think.

I’m sure most think of Denzel as well, he is in his 50s now, so same position Morgan Freeman was in. IF Denzel were in his early 40s I’d say he’s perfect, again, too old.

So if they were to re-make or just make some more movies based on the books, and Morgan Freeman had to be recasted (which I’m not even saying he has to be, but…you get my point). Who would you pick?

Wesley Snipes probably would have been a good choice, don’t think so anymore…

Terrance Howard? Or….damnit, brain-fart…Don Cheadle there we go lol. I think they can both pull off the "Boxer-physchiatrist-detective" role that is Alex Cross each fairly well.

Something tells me there is someone else I can’t think of who would be perfect. Thoughts, opinions, all are welcome :)

A strange question, but… what was the book Alex Cross was quoting from when he said "They think that when I die, the case will die. They think it will be like a book I close. But the book, it will never close." It’s referring to the Lindbergh baby and what Haupptman said in the end, but.. I can’t seem to find that in any of the books I’ve read on the kidnapping. I paused the movie and checked but it seems as if that isn’t even a real book, making that quote untrue.

    Anyone onto this?

… with the pronounciation of Soneji? In at least a couple of books (Cat and Mouse, for sure), Patterson goes out of his way to write in the correct pronounciation of Soneji (Soh-nee-gee, if I recall correctly, if not, very similar). Why in the world would the director then have all the characters say sohn-gee??

Grrrr. I could even live with the other book changes, since that’s what movies do, but COME ON!

Hi everyone, the movie was replayed recently in the UK, and I fell in love with the car Morgan Freeman drove. Early results of the research indicate it might be a Porcshe 356.

Can anyone clue me in? I’m suddenly in love again…..
