do note that the Warner Brother releases do not have an accurate translation of the Japanese dialog. It is all based on the English dub. Sometimes it words things differently then the English dub but it’s a way to not make it so obvious that it’s based on the dub. It’s almost entirely the dialog as heard in the English dub.

The only release in the world that has an accurate translation of the Japanese dialog is the Japanese release. That release has English subtitles that are a true translation of the original Japanese dialog.

I liked the movie, since I like all movies based on the future that are done somewhat well. But just off the top of my head here’s a list of the many movies it obviously ripped off. I’m sure there’s more, but as you can see, it’s easy to see the writers borrowed a lot!

    1) The Matrix & Matrix Revolutions

Aerial battle, bullet-time kung fu fight, battle where two guys have equal abilities and hit each other at the same time, the squiddies attacking in the same freaking formation (AND guys in mobile suits fighting them off).

    2) Star Trek

    The cube like Borg ship.

    3) Mr. & Mrs. Smith

The last gun battle where Brad and Angelina fight side by side shooting from all angles with their backs against each other and from the front.

    4) Resident Evil Apocalypse

The mob of zombies running over the police at the city limits.

    5) Final Fantasy Spirits Within

The opening scene inside an airship looked awfully familiar.

    6) Terminator 3

Trying to keep a mechanical door from closing and getting ripped apart.

    7) David Lynch’s Rabbits

Brialeos’ head looks like the same rabbits from that creepy short, c’mon.

    8) Ghost In the Shell

People getting hacked and losing control of their actions. They even ripped themselves off!!

    9) Appleseed

Cyborgs and clones in the future. Oh wait…

Now that Appleseed ex machina has been released do you think a third installment will come out? after all there was a sequel to the first appleseed and the first one is pretty weak. the second one while flawed certainly is leaps and bounds better than the first. now sparks the question of whether or when a third appleseed will be made… any thoughts

It’s nice to know that no one is overweight or ugly in future. Also how is that they can turn people into cyborgs but that can’t fix that poor bastards eye at the end of the film? I know, I know, I am being to literal but these things are pretty obvious. :(

I bought Appleseed 2: Ex Machina when I saw it at my store because they have anime come and go really fast and never re-order a title once it’s gone. But since it is Appleseed 2, do I have to see the first one to enjoy or understand the ‘sequel’?

    Or are they separate stories?

    Thanks!

The clothes weren’t that great. Deunan’s party dress was hideous. I loved this movie…the clothes, not so much! It looks crazy and contrived. It actually looks hokey and infantile like something from the old cartoon Beverly Hills Teens.

Prada, Smah-da! A high end designer name doesn’t mean Jack Crap…I now see.

    Disappointing as all get out.

i’ve seen numerous ‘manga-films’ now (of which GIT is still my fav, after which FF and then appleseed), but i was wondering if there are more of these movies out there, which we dun hear off out here in europe. I mean, i can imagine you guys in Japan see a lot more then we do (even though ‘the scene’ in europe is growing and growing :D).

Just gimme a list of things i must see (leave out the well knowns plz…cause i’m not that a ‘newbie’…..after seeing akira i just got hooked a decade ago)

    thanks and regards,

No blood? As far as I remember the comics were full of blood, guts and nudity, why isn’t there any in the movies? Cause of the ratings? "If we add blood we will lose the pg-13 rating and lose money"

Frikken awesome movie! This is one of the few times where a sequel is so much better than the original. I liked how this movie was more mature, more adult oriented. There’s almost nothing I can complain about, except the techno music at some inappropriate times. Here’s hoping that this movie’s a success and they make another sequel.

I’ve seen both "Appleseed" movies, as well as another movie called "Vexille" and I’d love to see more anime movies that have the same look ie. 2D shaded characters in 3D modelled environments. Is there a website or something that lets people know of what movies are in production, as well as a list of other movies out there that have been made.

I mean look how advanced the robotics is, add that to how advanced the cloning is. My dad brought this up, but why cant they just clone him a new body, and just transplant the brain? I am assuming he still has his brain, otherwise hed be a robot essentially.

well i bought the movie yesterday, but in the box there was just "english" "spanish" and "portuges".

i was trying to decide between english or spanish, so i was changing the audio as i was watching the movie, suddenly there was the audio in japanese,a nice surprise, in the set up, they didnt put the japanese audio either. i think its a little stupid, i wasnt going to buy it because i like to hear the movies in their original audio.

its this just the "mexican version" or the american one its the same?

The first song in the ending credits, anyone know the title? That was too good, might be my mood though.. I find that some times a song can be really crappy, then next time you hear it you like it. I guess it makes sense, cause music has emotions and so affects/depends on your mood.

It’s a relaxed song, kinda sad yet it’s "everything will be okay" kind of song. My mood is ultra relaxed, im very tired and just ate. Also I starting reflecting on life when I heard "everything will be alright".

Anyways, very nice song recommend you listen to it.. and the title would be nice.

Watched the first one, loved it,

Watched the second one, loved it,

These two movies feature awesome action, kick ass characters, moving themes, and final triumph that makes you want to cheer. And for fans of relationships, the second movie hosts a stronger and sort of normal bond between Duenan and Briarios, which makes you say, ah, hey, their alright.

These are far more than anime, animation, call it a cartoon then your just retarded.

It’s pure action, sci-fi, and fantasy and anyone who hasn’t seen these is just missing out.

Is there supposed to be any picture distortion / semi break-up during the opening sequence / voiceover? I have the film on normal DVD and the rest of the disc appears to work perfectly (not actually watched it yet but have flicked through).

I guess it could be just a style thing, it just looks a bit weird and makes me wonder if there is something wrong with the disc.

One other thing – anyone know where you can get high-resolution images of Deunan in her Prada party dress, would make a cool desktop wallpaper. There are a few thumbnail-size ones on some fashion websites but nothing big.

He didn’t write it, he didn’t direct it. They brought the project to him once the project was pretty much done. All he did was tell them to put more slow motion in it. I don’t know why the Woo factor is so high when people talk about this movie. The special features on the dvd were awful, all they talked about was Woo instead of the people who actually made the movie.
