Reboots have gotten so far out of hand since Batman Begins, that now the time has come to where directors are rebooting their own damn movie!

Pathetic…I think I’m going to give up on movies all together.

I love Tim’s films, but his last 7 movies (apart from Corpse Bride) were remakes or based on something else. I know he puts his own originality into them but I just want him to make something new and exciting.

      Does it really matter?

Seeing how Frankenweenie will be done using stop-motion I hardly think it matters if Burton uses the same actors from his other movies.

So the voices alone will prevent Burton/Depp-collaboration haters from purchasing a ticket? the hate has come this far, huh?

If you’re that annoyed by their collaboration you could…I don’t know, not watch the F%cking movies they make.

Tim said that he’s going to make this based off his original drawings and sketches and that is how NBC got its looks as well. Do you think it’ll have the clasic Tim burton look of NBC? I’m actually looking forward to that style if it does happen.

Tim Burton is like the.. Emily Strange of goth. I feel like the last truly creative project he’s done was The Nightmare Before Christmas, and since then I feel like he’s been taking old ideas and slapping a Burton label on them to please the masses. What happened to the creativity? It’s just not there anymore. And after completely destroying Planet of the Apes and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, I’m at my wits end.

Now he’s remaking Alice and Wonderland, Frankenweenie, and if the rumours hold true he’ll be making a remake of Labyrinth. Why, Tim, why must you take all my childhood classics and rip them to shreds? Am I the only one who feels this way? Or are the rest of you all just anticipating Beetlejuice 2?

Glen Shadix should voice one of the neighbors.

And they should include a grumpy grandpa character, and have him be voiced by Martin Landau.

Allot of people are complaining about deep always being cast in Tim’s movies, but why?

Hes so perfect for Tims style, and his characterization is always so good that you forget it’s him for half the movie.

No other director gives depp the freedom that Tim does, and to be honest there are few films that they’ve worked on together that could be criticized (yes Charlie and the chocolate factory wasn’t loved by all)

But I see them as a sort of double act now… same as Danny elfman always being part of Tim’s soundtrack.

There are few actors that can pull off Tim’s gothic edge.

And I don’t see you complaining about him reusing Alan Rickman, Helena, timothy spall, Winona Ryder, Christopher lee.

I can see why some of you could see it as repetitive, and playing it “safe” but directors almost always reuse the same actors in their films, and if they have a connection and understanding like Tim and Johnny do, it seems foolish not to.

      According to Ain’t It Cool:

Hey folks, Harry here with some news out of SXSW. In Mike Fleming’s article about Tim Burton’s Charles Addams’ ADDAMS FAMILY. And the headline seemed to suggest that it would be the next 3D Animated film from Tim Burton… What I find odd is that Mike does mention FRANKENWEENIE in the body of the article as being a film that Tim "is making"…

Well at the SXSW screening at the fabled Paramount Theater this morning I sat in on a terrific screening of WAKING SLEEPING BEAUTY – a spectacular documentary that tells of the time at Disney between THE BLACK CAULDRON and THE LION KING’s releases. It is an absolutely civilized telling of some astonishing filmmaking that made up the last golden years of Disney Animation. What is amazing is that it is a pretty damn honest look at those times that is actually endorsed by the Walt Disney Corporation. Anyway – I’ll write that review soon enough. What’s key to tell right now is that Director Don Hahn, who was there to introduce and do a post film Q&A, who happens to also be the Executive Producer of FRANKENWEENIE. Well, this Don Hahn told us that the puppets are ready, the script is done and now that Tim Burton is clear of ALICE IN WONDERLAND… he’s set to helm FRANKENWEENIE in 3D. So that’s probably the next 3D animated Tim Burton project.

      Sweetness.

I think Tim should only work with Warner Brothers, they’re the only company (aside from touchstone and the one time he worked with Columbia/tri star) that don’t seem to interfere with his work. Edward Scissorhands was Fox’s exception, but then they messed with Planet of the Apes and now (to a lesser extent) Disney have done the same thing with Alice. Plus his best films are with Warner

In the late ’80s and early ’90s Tim Burton was one of the most exiting film directors to come out of that period, when rules were again being broken, and cinema, after a decade of Star Wars and Indiana Jones, was becoming interesting again.

But it’s been a while since I actually cared about a new Burton project. I had been interested in the Frankenweenie idea, until I read that it is to be animated, which seems far less interesting than watching a real kid deal with his trauma.

That’s just an opinion though. Burton may find some way to include Depp, but I really don’t expect Depp to be in this film. There doesn’t seem to be a big enough role in this (besides Victor) for Depp to be able to play, and I don’t think Burton would cast Depp as Victor. Although, still, I could be wrong…

…they just look good. That’s it. Ed Wood, Edward Scissorhands and ANBC were great, but now his movies are just using the same dark style and that’s it. I mean, his movies are fun to watch but, lets hope that he stops making remakes and starts being original again.

I seem to recall it starring that same guy who starred in another movie I think it was called D.A.V.I.D.

At any rate it too was made by Disney but it was a rather short black and white movie. Basically a a dog is stitched back together and brought back to life much in the same vein as Frankenstein’s monster.

As horrifying as the concept may seem to some? It’s execution was kind of heart warming to me. I felt sad for the dog after its accident where it died and even more so at everyone opposition to it because it was dead.

I guess Tim Burton is the perfect fit for his knack at finding the heart underneath the darkness.

Hi, I know I’m going to get ripped apart by 99% of the people who read these posts and hate comments like these, but here goes:

I will be going to school in London come January, and I desperately want an internship with Tim Burton’s production company. I’m a film major at USC in Los Angeles, and Burton is, so cliche, one of my favorite directors. I can honestly say I like every single one of his films (even Charlie and the Chocolate Factory).

I am prepared to get coffee, hold tissue to the nose of the script readers, shine shoes, etc. However, I don’t know how to get in contact with his offices. I read somewhere that he reads these posts, so I’m banking on his invisible presence on these boards.

If anyone knows an email/contact for my endeavors I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for your patience and input.
