Reitman should become organized and make a movie that sells at the box office with out Bill Murray, I figure he’s a funny guy but the movie won’t suffer without him, but will suffer if you go along with a ghost of Murray, I would rather see Slimer return to the big screen any day of the week.

Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Jack Black, Will Ferrell. If you they have to have a black guy just add Dave Chappelle. That’s pretty much the cast.

…who would you think would potentially make good repleacements to fill in the old Ghostbusters shoes. I know a lot of people would think that noone could ever be as good as the originals but you never know.

I think potentially, Seth Rogen, Justin Long and Bradley Cooper would have the potential and the on screen charisma to be potentially good. I could see Cooper being a good sardonic, cynic very much like Pete Venkman. You just need to watch him in "The Hangover" and you can see he would possibly be good. As for a fourth I think Kal Penn would be an interesting choice.

Things look even worse for the film now more than ever. First the studio wants to replace Reitman, then Murray and Moranis really want no part of it. (The deal linked with Columbia guarantees if any of the stars don’t want to make it the deal is completely off!)

Columbia’s plan to reboot Ghostbusters is being haunted by a Mike Ovitz–orchestrated deal made in the early eighties on behalf of the series’ original director-producer, Ivan Reitman. The studio’s strategy is to revitalize the franchise for next year by having the original ‘busters train a dramatically younger crew in Ghostbusters III, while a correspondingly younger director handles things behind the camera. However, Reitman’s old contract — made at the height of his and Ovitz’s powers — still gives him exceptional creative control over the series, including director approval. "Those deals were made in the eighties,” explains one insider. “So his rights in this circumstance have a great deal of teeth.” Therefore, while it’s true that Reitman can’t force Columbia to make Ghostbusters III with him, he can make it nearly impossible for the studio to make the film without him.

In fact, a source tells us that Reitman and all three original principals (Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, and Harold Ramis … sorry, Ernie Hudson!) have a solid deal that says that if ANY of the four of them don’t like any element of a new Ghostbusters, they can singlehandedly veto and kill the entire project alltogether; it has to be unanimously approved before going forward. (Considering that both Aykroyd and Ramis have been consulting on the story, Murray is likely the only unknown quantity on the actors’ side.) However, the key difference is that Columbia would love for these actors to be onboard to pass the torch and cross the streams. Not so with Reitman.

Sony hoped the problem would be solved for them if Reitman were too busy on another project, which they thought just happened: Vulture has learned that Paramount green-lighted a new comedy to be directed by Reitman called Friends With Benefits (originally titled *beep* Co-financed by the director’s Montecito Picture Company, FWB will star Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman in what’s described as “an inverse Harry Met Sally," a sex comedy wherein two friends in a purely physical relationship begin to develop true romantic feelings for one another.

However, Sony’s hopes that FWB would lead to Reitman making a graceful exit from Ghostbusters III will likely be dashed. Insiders familiar with Reitman’s plans say he thinks the two comedies are not mutually exclusive, and still plans to direct both, raising serious questions about whether Sony can proceed with Ghostbusters III at all.

Either way, the studio might want to revisit the words of Reitman himself from a 1989 Los Angeles Times interview, in which he downplayed the merits of ever doing another Ghostbusters again: "Ghostbusters II wasn’t as much fun to make as the first one," Reitman explained. "In comedy, the element of surprise is everything. And I think once that element of surprise is gone, once people know there’s going to be ghosts, there’s going to be big ghosts, and they’re expecting something big at the end, a lot of the tools that are at your disposal are gone."

So, in short, this film looks very likely to remain in development hell for many more years. Murray already shows massive disinterest in it alltogether.

I personally like 3D however I feel most films don’t take advantage.

Final Destination- the most fun I’ve had watching a crap movie

UP -I thought the 3D added nothing

    Avatar – added loads

Alice in wonderland- added hardly anything to whole experience.

If any film could take full advantage it must be ghostbusters.

Slimer popping out the screen would be awesome.

    Through the whole film!

    And I’ll tell you why.

If you look at the videogame, the detail of the characters is perfect to what they looked like back then.

    So here’s my reasons:

One, you don’t have to worry about the age factor anymore, and have the "Original Ghostbusters" in the film, without a new crew.

    2. Since it would all be designed, you can make NY look like it did back in the early 90’s and disregard the use of current technology that wasn’t used at that time, making it more of a direct sequel on shortly after the first one.

    3. Even though it’s animated, it’s the closest we’ll ever see as far as the original team at it on film, without looking to old.

    4. They can probably get Murry to do voice overs for Venkman, and other cast memembers as well. And if not, at least you can get voice actors who sounds like like Dana or Louis, to keep them in the film.

    5. You can create things in the enviroment you couldn’t do live action, or would do with CG that wouldn’t blend in right with live action effects.

    Just my 2 cents.

Anyone else hope Ivan Reitman doesn’t direct this? Some say if he doesn’t direct that G3 won’t feel like the first two. But Steven Spielberg directed Indiana Jones 4 and that felt nothing like the first three. I’ve seen all of Reitman’s movies, and the only 2 that were good were the original Ghostbusters and Stripes.

if ghostbusters existed today heres what i think they would have:

I think Egon and Ray would go back to there love of teaching. They would have there own classroom in the firehouse where they would teach the paranormal to young upcoming ghostbusters. Venkman would still be his old self and hit on all chick students.

Egon would be doing plenty of dangerous experiments that nobody understands, like the time he tried to drill a hole in his head. With the vast wealth and time that his company can give him there is no telling what he can come up with, like he is gaining weight to learn more about the limits of the containment unit.

After twenty years of slimer haunting the headquarters the ghostbusters would definatly see him as a kind of weird pet, as seen in the ghostbusters cartoons.

Now in real life if there was real ghostbusters they would have been approached with offers of a reality tv series. camera men would follows old and new ghostbusters threw there every day life.(this would fit in wonderfully well with the new writers from the office )

And last they would have gb headquarters all over the country or even all over the world. It would definatly be another service like the police department.

If they want to reboot the series with a younger cast, please just call it Ghostbusters: The Next Generation or something to that effect. I can live with that and subtle references to the old films. What would really piss me off is if they brought in the old cast for nothing more than geriatric jokes and street cred while tricking the audience into thinking they’re seeing a true continuation in the series.

There isn’t any need for a sequel. ALL four cast members are in their 60s now. Three of the cast members have not gray, but WHITE hair, Harold Ramis is pushing 300 pounds. If anything these guys are WAY past their prime. Let’s hope this remains in development HELL where it belongs forever! This has DISASTER written all over it! Give up the ghost guys, it’s time to move on! The more that’s heard about the script the worse it gets. The writers are from the upcoming sure to be terrible Year One film, which also has BOMB written all over it. SAY NO TO GHOSTBUSTERS 3!

Why pass on the torch? Why not just have them come out of retirement, as if they had already busted all the ghosts and there was no longer a need for their services until the end of the Mayan calendar when some kind of evil force is unleashed forcing the Ghostbusters to regroup. No new people required?

Bill Murray is the kind of actor that doesn’t make awful, terrible movies. He’s not a fan of sequels, he feels like they’re usually crap. Now, from the beginning, when GB3 was first brought up, he’s maintained this opinion on sequels. However, he knows if the right people come into play, and the script isn’t crap, he’s willing to play ball. People constantly asking him about GB3 is a bit of an annoyance to him. Thus, when people press him about it, he says he’s not interested. But if you followed his comments from the very beginning, he does have some interest in it. (In essence, it’s like Bob Zemeckis and "Back to the Future", the more poeple ask him about it, the less he wants to get into it.) So, we can all be exited, but it’s better to remain patient, rather than flood the boards or ask him over and over. Just thought I’d pass that along…

If ever there was a movie franchise that demanded more than one sequel, it is "Ghostbusters". I seriouslly can’t believe, considering the massive box-office gross of the first two movies, that they are just now considering a third installment – more than 20 years later!!!

In Hollywood, a movie is only as good as the amount of money a sequel can generate and the Ghostbusters franchise is brimming with possibilities. If there can be 6 Rocky movies, 12 Friday the 13th’s, 5 Childs Play’s, and 3 High School Musical’s – then why in the hell couldn’t they make another Ghostbusters movie or two? Ghostbusters is a franchise that isn’t limited to a single storyline. The possibilites for branching storylines are endless and I believe that a third installment will prove to the big wigs at Columbia/Tri-Star as well as Dan Ackroyd, Bill Murray, and Harold Ramis that this franchise is a long, long away from being dead and if only they take the chance to revive it they will see that this has been something that has not only been begging for a third installment, but necessitates one.

A third Ghostbusters installment would be a phenomenon that no one, not even the producers, will be prepared for. If it is in 3D with a strong script then I don’t see any reason the film wouldn’t generate 500 million+ at the box office. There are so many die-hard fans of the franchise out there that they would be knocking down the theater doors to get in to see it.
