I have been "discovering" the films of Mr Ferguson, which in my opinion are quite good, and this one in particular. It did win several film festival awards, and he did most of the filming with a broken collarbone. Notice that he does not use his right arm for most of the scenes.

I have noticed at least two errors that were not pointed out in the commentary on the DVD. First, in the final hospital scene, Paul is clearly wearing undies under the hospital gown; however when he leaves the pub after being sprung by his fake wife, he walks out with the gown gaping open clearly showing his bare behind.

Secondly, in the scene filmed directly after his collarbone break and closeups shot later according to his voice track, he is laying on a sofa at his home with a stuffed big game cat behind his head. On the long shot the cat is directly at the back of his head and his hair is mussed, on the closeups the cats head is much further away and his hair is more combed.

I thought this film was a great departure from Craig’s other films; more vulnerable, more understated. He, as a writer departed from the comedy of The Big Tease to make a more insightful film that I can watch multiple times. He is the total opposite of his suave character in Born Romantic. I do think from the deleted scenes that the scene of his daughter slapping him for all the times they did not share should have made the final cut, as it showed more emotion in the daughter character.

As for a rip off of "What a Girl Wants" I don’t see the connection. Totally different story for me other than the I didn’t know I had a kid angle.

i did not like it at all in this movie – i admit that she can do classical singing and i loved her pop songs crazy chick and call my name – but the songs tha she had to sing in this movie were not suited to her voice at all espec the song at the very end!

I havn’t got a naughty bone in my body….except for the one that was in my boyfriend last night!

Just started watching this movie after a little while.

I totally did not remember the part with Craig Ferguson dancing about in his leopard print underwear.

    *shudders*

    I love him, but no!

I’ve only seen a clip of this movie where Charlotte Church sings "Summertime" and I’ve never heard her sing before. So anyways, when I heard her sing this, I was completely blown away, it’s such a gorgeous song and she sang it so beautifully!

As I am a Big Fan of Craig Fergusen, I love The Late Late Show!!! But I didnt like this. Craig was Great!! and so was Charlotte Church. But the Lady who played the mother completly over acted and the Guy who played the Grandfather I feel was Miscast. Sorry, Just the way I feel. Decent effort though. I would love to see Craig Try Directing again! But with someone elses Script.

we should post some since there is no "quotes" section for the movie on IMDB.

Rebecca- She’s not going to be a singer

Paul- It’s too late, she already is.

Hi! If this has been asked I’m sorry. I looked to see but I didn’t see anything.

Does anyone know a link to the song she sings on the piano on this movie?

I haven’t seen it yet, but it’s on the trailer and it sounds beautiful!

Thank you so much for your all’s time!

Okay, this is a dumb question: why is Paul Kerr, Craig’s character, listed as the lead for the band? Is he a real person?

Hi! I just wanted to ask if anybody knows the artist of the song "I’ll be there" (if that is the correct title of the track) which we hear a lot in the movie…

It looks like a movie I could let my daughter watch but she is still young and the nudity warning is a problem for me. She is 10, is this movie a bit to much for her?? Opinions would be appreciated.

… Is this true???! (it might WELL be, for all my knowledge on the subject… ! ) I find that bizarre, if it is… What if a couple just took an irrational dislike to you??! Scary stuff – and something to be mindful of, if I’m ever in hospital… Some informed insight on this subject would be greatly appreciated… ! (The Film: 5/10.)

The luck is gone, the brain is shot; but the LIQUOR – we still got!

The movie sounds a lot like "What a Girl Wants" with Amanda Bynes, Kelly Preston and Colin Firth which came out in the same year. It came out first in the USA but second in the UK. I think that the movie "I’ll Be There" would have done better in the USA if Amanda didn’t release her very similar movie first.

I also think that Amanda’s acting is better than Charlotte’s, which may account for the low box-office intake.
