I usually tend to go for films with high marks on IMDB – most of the time its a good indicator as to whether a film is worth watching or not.

7.7 I thought, thats a good mark for a road movie. Its a good mark for any film! Then I saw the Cast.. Kurt Russell! Gary Oldman! Bloody hell!

At first I thought, ah this is fairly endearing. The first 25 mins or so. Then It began to sink in. This film is for children?! The simplistic, spoon fed moral and "life" tales really were nauseating. Everything is done with a heavy hand. Not one message is illuminating nor subtle.

Apart from being dissapointed with the messages, the simpleton like manner they are conveyed. There are other problems.

The writing is really poor. I mean there are moments in it that remind me of really egregious soap operas. Two scenes really grated me. The scene with the horny girl testing the guys "capacity to not *beep*" and the scene with the "euphoria" drugs place were RIDICULOUS. The acting was vile also. Oldman was good was he? average! Have you seen him in any other films. This was just another fifth element comedy filler for him!

    So to summarise:

    1) messages were clunky, moralistically naive, and preachy.

    2) writing was sub-standard.

    3) So was the acting – some of the bit parts were really poor. the main actor has about depth and charisma as a dead accountant.

    4) The plot was all over the place, and it was being weird for weirds sake. Wow a film is different – that means its good… no, no it doesn’t. I can understand that this might be a film that entertains a teenager. It reminds me of a poor mans version of I heart huckerbees (and thats not a great film).

INFACT the only think I concede is that it might be nice escapism for teenagers. But adults??

Shocking – so thanks IMDB for not always getting it right ;)

I really do wonder sometimes. This film bangs its head agains’t the wall repeatedly, spouting semi-allegorical yarns of moral conformity – right-wing conclusions abound. Yet contradicting itself by suggesting we are conditioned to respond to what we are taught/know and should think "outside the box".When really most of this film is repeating what they thought in the first place. Great. Suddenly stupid people feel they are now philsophically intune. Bob Gale, deary me – I jsut about forgive him because he wrote back to the future. JUST. I have NOT hated a film this bad for a long time. It enraged me. 7.7 *shakes head*. This planet needs to be turned over.

I was curious if anybody has realized how much this movie borrows from Alice in Wonderland. Take for instance Christohper Lloyd’s part, time is stopped at exactly 10:04. For the Mad Hatter, Time plays a crucial role in his world and it is stopped for a forever tea party. Even when James Marsden drives through the dark, smokey tunnel its like when Alice goes through the rabbit hole. If none of this convinces you, take this into consideration. Chris Cooper utters almost verbatim the lines that are said in Alice in Wonderland, "Say what you mean, mean what you say." James Marsden is basically Alice, always looking for an answer, but after they begin traveling through this strange new world, they stop asking for answers and just adept to the new rules, and go along for the ride. I mean even James’ character wakes up from his hospital bed, realizing it was some sort of dream world. Review Alice in Wonderland and then watch this film again, you’ll realize what I’m talking about.

This movie had some great actors and concepts but ultimately just felt a little too cheesy and corny by the end. Christopher Lloyd is great and I am a fan of Gary Oldman as well as Chris Cooper but there were many moments where after the scene ended I just kinda sighed and shook my head.

I understand that Bob Gayle is not really a very edgy director and appeals to a wider, more PG rated audience, and doesn’t really push the envelope very much. Not to say that is a bad thing, but for some reason I felt like it would have had more substance if it would have a bit darker.

Having said that some of the concepts we’re pretty funny and original such as the town that everyone was a lawyer and suing and counter-suing each other.

Amy Jo Johnson is incredibly hawt even though her personality in the film wasn’t that appealing. I just kept thinking of the pink power ranger and how I had the biggest crush on her growing up. That’s not really noteworthy just a personal feeling :)

The lead role played by James Mardsen, who a better job than I expected but was just to ‘Hollywood pretty boyish’ to really be taking seriously.

I could go on but you all get the idea. Overall decent but I think fell a little short of what it could have been. I’d say a 6.5 out of 10.

    What do you all think?

I think this movie was more of an "intro" to existentialism – thoughts?

    Neal’s wish = defining himself

8 ball and choices/decisions = freedom is a condition of action, Neal was making choices by leaving everything to chance – when he smashed the 8 ball, he accepted the "responsibility" of freedom (mean what you say, say what you mean)

    ***warning spoilers***

In the end of the movie Neal gives back the car to his father because it has the "wrong colour" and he’s so hurt that his father doesn’t know him better.

I don’t know but I thought it was pretty rude. Who cares if it’s the wrong colour? He’s gotten a CAR for chrissakes! What a spoiled, self centered brat. I’ve often on my birthday gotten books that I usually would never read, or music I wouldn’t listen to or whatever. It’s one of the funny things by getting presents…you can get influenced by the person who gave u the item and learn to like new things. I don’t think it’s rude to give someone something you would like to get yourself.

He could’ve made a comment on it, that it really wasn’t his favorite colour, but giving it back was way over the top.

When his father had a birthday he could give him whatever he wanted too, it doesn’t have to be something he loves…how boring life would be if we always got what we expected.

Anyone has the freedom to buy any present they want.

As for making him become a lawyer…I aggree with him. He should stop his fathers plans…but that’s another story.

well since you’re naked you might as well f___ a friend of mine. Paul come in here!

Probably a very strange thing to claim but long before I even knew this film existed I had almost the same situations occur in my life. Except there were no O.W’s in my story and the majority of my trip was an acid one haha. Seriously though, I was constantly going up and down a highway, meeting people who seemed to know me and what my agenda was. Signs pointing me in certain directions. I ended up at raves and they induced the same feelings as the "euphoria" party gave me while watching. In fact this experience changed my life and perception. I learnt to read between the lines in even the most mundane situations and have discovered fabric in some people who others wouldn’t and beauty in things most would never see. It was an absolute blast. Just a harmless observation from me. When I saw this movie I was mouth agape the whole time at the overlying plot being so similar to this month long drug bender I had had. Leads me to believe perhaps Mr Gale maybe had a similar trip once eh?

Interstate 60 is one of the most original movies to come along in such a long time, has a great story, big namne cameos, and an outstanding peformance by Gary Oldman. This movie gets a 7.7 out of almost 10,000 votes which is almost unheard of for a direct to video movie. It’s advertising has been word of mouth. I have yet to recommend this to anyyone that did no9t like it.

I really hope a studio gives Gale a bigger budget and let him work on something else very creative. I like the BTTF flicks but Instarstate 60 is a greater accomplishmnet!

It’s easily apparent that BTTF was a fluke for Mr. Gale.

    Hello Everyone:

I haven’t had a chance to see the movie yet but I was wondering if someone who has seen the movie could help me out. Could you tell me a bit more about the character Philip? He is played by one of my favourite actors, Tyler Kyte, and I wan’t to know more about this role. For example, how big a part, what’s his character like, what does Philip (Tyler) do in the movie. That sort of thing. If anyone can help that would be great!

    Thanks!!

Don’t you hate it when that happens…

The last thing I saw was when jeep hoodlums dumped white paint on his car (making him fit the description of the killer).

    So what happened next ?

I am not a complete idiot. Some parts are missing.

    Lets list them…

    1. Shows two different clocks at "10:04"

    – Which is when lightning struck the clock tower.

    2. MJF’s character yells "Holy *beep*

    – Just light in BTTF2 when Griffs gang breaks through the windows after the hoverboard chase

    3. Neil could have easily called Ray "doc"

    – Which would have been great!

    4. Alot of the background music sounds like the music from BTTF.

    5. Bob Gale, MJF, and C. Lloyd all together again!!!!!

    Any others?

After watching this film I knew who the real brains behind "I wanna hold your hand" "Used Cars" and all THe Back to the Futures!!! This movie was terrible and I believe Mr. Gale himslef wrote the first review posted here! To call this film a "gem" is practically blasphemous! It had some of the worst acting (which is crazy because alot of the actors are really good in other roles!) which makes me believe that IT REALLY IS THE DIRECTOR WHO MAKES THE PERFORMANCES!! It’s sad because this film won a whole bunch of DVDX awards, so I’m sure Mr. Gale is quietly sitting in his bathtub at home humming the Back to the Future theme! He’ll never learn his lesson and strive to create something REALLY GOOD! Hopefully Mr. Zemeckis will help out next time and give him some pointers!

I’m a sucker for good looking women in movies so since Amy Smart was in this movie I rented it without knowing anything about the movie. She was on the cover, I rented it. As I started to watch this movie, I got totally engulfed in the movie and I really didn’t care if she was in the movie or not. You never know what you’re going to expect next. And the "name actors" in the movie make it much more interesting. My favorite character was Chris Cooper’s character. Say what you mean, and mean what you say. A motto to live by.

SEE THIS MOVIE! It is in my top 10 movies of all time.

I can’t believe people like this movie so much!

i found it reasonable to watch and at parts it was quite funny,

but it somehow felt like an episode of some cheap television series

The whole ‘funny-with-a-message’ thing just kept reminding me of Big Fish, which really had a stronger story and looked an awful lot better
