    I know it’s a technicality but. . . think about it. . .

And don’t say they could only hate things "away" because that isn’t true. I mean even when they would hate a material object away – empty open space replaced it. . Nothingness is always something(That’s a whole other discussion, haha).

I mean. . . If you are hungry, you could hate the fact that you don’t have food. . That fact exists.. . .Right. . In a concrete sense the absence of food is real and tangible and could be done away with, right. . .

Then they started hating away emotions and memories. . . So when Dave was hating his hate away and Andrew wouldn’t go with it and also hate his own hatred away. . Couldn’t Dave had just hated Andrew’s hate?

Hell. . . .When he said they were gods he technically should have been right, haha. He could have even hated away Andrew’s powers! Leaving himself as the boss king diggity dog of their existence.

I don’t know. .. I liked this a lot actually, just some of these lingering ideas in my head have kind of annoyed me.

i was hoping for the movie to be thought provoking and funny, instead i got 2 dip****s bouncing around for 90 min. this movie could have been really awesome but crappy directing, annoying actors, and terrible dialog make this movie bad enough that i was forced to turn it off. they should take this idea and try again, or just give it to someone who isnt a retard. i cant give it an honest rating considering i didnt want to have to watch any more of it.

As many of you may know, Imdb doesn’t rate movies according to only the user votes. If it did, this movie would be rated 7.7. Instead, Imdb gives movies a "weighted average" based heavily on additional factors which they refuse to disclose. This seems entirely unfair to many filmmakers, whose praised films end up with low user ratings because of some odd, possibly illogical scoring method. I understand the basis for this kind of scoring, and its secrecy. It’s to prevent users from voting for a single film many times using various user names. But like I said, it seems like it may often be unfair. If anyone knows any more about this scoring, please give me some insight. Thanks.

OK, I liked the movie. Not loved, but liked. Nice little movie to pass the time.

But I must say I absolutely hated the DVD cover, which SO does not fit with the movie tone. The cover just screams "horror movie" – you see a distorted mouth screaming, a hellish hand with see-through blood and veins bursting through, a terrifed eye and below the words "Nothing" in white smoke. When you turn the DVD around things get worse. Two most prominent scenes shown are the scene with Dave holding Andrew’s chopped-off head dripping blood and the one where spider-like Andrew is leering toward the camera. There is just a small blurb of what the movie is about, and no genre specification.

Anyway, this cover does the movie too much harm in my opinion. Horror fans will pick this movie up and feel totally disappointed and cheated – chances are they will turn it off few minutes into it. On the other hand, someone who likes silly comedies (and above all, this movie is a silly comedy) will most likely pass this up immediately – especially because it would be displayed on the horror shelf.

I hate false advertising, I really hate it. Not that it isn’t nice to be surprised with something unexpected from time to time, but to damage the movie – and everyone involved with it – just because you want to sell it faster (and ultimately trick the customer) is for me quite despicable.

P.S. Oh yeah, the DVD in my country also had NO EXTRAS, which kinda sucks since I hear that "Making of Nothing" is quite a hoot. Grrr…

This line probably goes to my top 10 movie quotes of all time.

Random sillines of two cops on horses knocking on the door and firing this thing back at them was just terrific. Too bad the movie doesn’t offer more moments like this.

I have to admit, ever since seeing Cube, I can consider myself a Natali fan. They are so entertaining. Odd at times yes, but they never stop to captivate your interest. I really wish I could see a couple more of his films to see if they are all like Cube and Nothing.

Vincenzo Natali made a name for himself in 1997 with his cult classic Cube, about a group of strangers trapped inside a gigantic Rubik’s cube maze. The strangers are locked in without an answer to their incarceration, and every attempt to escape lands them into lethal, booby trapped rooms. In what starts as a bizarre coincidence, every stranger possesses an expertise that might aid them find a potential exit. Cube is a well-crafted, riddle-laden story that tips it’s hat to The Twilight Zone. Nothing, released in 2003, is Natali’s entry into comedy that continues his fascination with the groundbreaking t.v series. However, Nothing is perhaps the dorkiest sci-fi film not named The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai. It ‘s like if Harry and Lloyd had stumbled on Rod Sterling’s Samsonite case on their way to Colorado…

i was enjoying the song "Everything" by Michael Andrews which played through the credits and wanted to see of course what the song was actually titled, and then once the credits ended it flashed forward to "Ten Years Later"

i won’t ruin the suprise, but i will state that i think i understood what happened in that part, but then again maybe not, wondered if someone would post ther interpertation of the "Ten Years Later" Epilouge

    and then i’ll share mine

I saw this movie around my sophomore year of high school, and am now a college freshman.

I have been looking for "Everything" by Michael Andrews for almost three full years, and I’ve done everything I can think of save ripping the entire movie to my computer and pulling the audio out that way (Which may be the best hope, I guess.)

The song isn’t available officially, I can’t find it illegally, it isn’t even on his iTunes store, can’t download it from his website, there’s no music video from YouTube to rip from the site and reformat, and I cannot think of any other possibilities (Again, besides ripping the movie) of where to find this friggin’ song.

Has anyone else had any luck at all?

For those of you who are fans of the "Kenny vs Spenny" series, do the two guys in this movie remind you of the stars of that show? Here are some similarities:

    – They both physically look like Kenny and Spenny

    – Dave and Andrew’s personalities are just like Kenny and Spenny’s

    – The guy that looks like Kenny plays a lot of Xbox, much like Kenny himself

    – The Spenny guy is colour-blind, also like the actual Spenny (he mentions this when they both run screaming into the house and then ask each other random questions to see if they’re the real them, such as "What’s you’re favourite colour!")

    – Andrew, the Spenny guy, is really neurotic

    – Andrew plays the guitar

    – They live in the same house

    – They’ve been friends since childhood

    – They’re both Canadian

    – Do they live in Toronto too?

And there are some other things, but I forgot them.

    Any comments?

Just saw this movie yesterday and I have to say it’s a great movie very original and different from what we see today, Natali is definitly a director to follow, can’t wait to see his next one Splice produced by Del Toro

I think the movie is about friendship and not about being nihilist…

At the end they just 2 friend hang out in a no man’s land, it also could be a critic against nihilism, that when you ahte everything, well at the end,

    what’s left ? Nothing…

I was telling a friend that after a "shot" of a good intellegent disturbing horror pic, a comedy makes a good "chaser" to release the tension worked up by the former.

A double feature of Cube, then Nothing is a fun combo.

If anyone can think of another pair…list it here.

I am a huge Natali fan. I have Cube signed by Nicole de Boer and the 2 disc version of Cypher with the funny slip case. But when oh when is Nothing going to get a R2 release? It’s been over 4years since it came out so I guess chances aren’t too high. I’d just like something other than my burnt to DVD .avi file.

This is sure going to entice people to see this film. This is stuck on the front page for nothing, under reviews. By "morphium_il".

"People – this is the most serious i’ve ever been in my life: DO NOT WATCH THIS MOVIE. it is total crap, you will be wasting more than your time watching it. You have been warned!

I’m not even sure where to begin. For starters, this movie, which is solely based on only two characters, features two of the worst actors the world has seen. I’m talking "Bold and Beautiful" rejects here. Secondly, the script, which seems to be vaguely stolen from the Harlan Ellison short story "City on the Edge of Forever", is simply pathetic, and features some of the most idiotic and embarrassing scenes I have ever seen, and I’ve watched Pirahna 2. Lastly, this movie features no directing whatsoever. It’s truly a sort of miracle, at some parts the movie feels like an undergraduate project, at other parts it just looks as though it was pasted together from bits of movies taken at fraternity parties. This way or the other, there is no definitive style, and the whole thing looks like it was put together in under five minutes.

All in all, this is one of the worst movies I have ever seen, and I would recommend against anyone watching it. And yes, I have watched, and liked, "Cube"."

How distinctly childish. He gives no examples and stresses no points. It’s simply "OMG THIS MOVIE SUXORS" and for that I give no quarter. If morphium_il shows up here and gives me some reasons and examples, i’l say it’s his opinion and leave him alone.. but mindlessly bashing something like this that needs to be seen is unexcusable :\

Is this simply dumb luck, or are the three actors David Hewlett, Maurice Dean Wint, and Andrew Miller friends who made another movie? I’m a huge fan of Cube, and I was just wondering what was the reason for this coincidence. Also, is this movie any good? And what is it about?

I found it funny somehow. I mean, he took everything with him! Umbrella (you know, in case huge drops of nothing start falling from the sky… errr, the nothing above you), sword (in case huge blobs of nothing attack him…), dictaphone (for documenting the huge diversity of nothing…), camera (ditto)

I always smile when I watch that part of the movie. He took it so seriously…

Of course he had to and as the audience we know more then he did, but still…

imdb says: Continuity: When Dave and Andrew are erasing each other’s favorite things, Dave hates away Andrew’s controller. In the next scene, Andrew uses this controller in the video game challenge.

this is incorrect, the controller Dave makes dissapear is a third-party xbox controller. probably ‘madcats’. the controller he uses in the video game challenge is a regular xbox controller.

i’m sure if playing video games is one of their favorie things to do, they’d have more than just 2 controllers. they’d have more as ‘backup’ controllers. like dave said when he was about to bury it, it was his ‘lucky controller’.
