If you could use oneword to describe Bodhi’s entire character, personality, etc…what would it be?

The Part where Lori Petty is teaching Keanu how to surf, a guy and a woman walk by and the guy heckles at them, and laughs then keeps walking on. Dude I really for some reason thought it was James Cameron, he looked and sounded exactly like him, and I think this was around the time the director Bigelow and him were involved. But I looked up on here, and he has a producing credit for this film, anybody know if that was him????

Pappas: "Last time you had a feeling I had to kill a guy. I hate that. It looks bad on the report."

"You’re a real blue-flame special, aren’t you, Utah? I don’t know why they sent you to LA. Must be an a-hole shortage."

    "Not so far."

Hi its been a long time since I saw this movie. I was a teenager and I like it very much- all of it. I remember there was a scene in which the character played by Gary Busey asks Johny to get (I’m not sure) meat ball sandwich? lol I am not sure of this but I do remember that he ate his sandwich -or whatever it was- in a very tempting delicious way hahaha am I right?

There are similar food-eating scenes in a other few movies that are my favorite but I don’t remember right now. Any suggestions on your food-eating scenes in movies?

Not boring Hurt Locker. This is still one of the most exciting movies out there and who can’t love Swayze?

I’m not really a fan of Point Break, i have it in my DVD collection and I really think it’s an average movie. But the only thing that I really like about the movie it’s the ending, every time i hear that "he’s not coming back" something happens

Patrick Swayze was great, well to me he was, but Reeves was not that good. His acting seemed very bad at times and rarely good. I like the movie a lot and I own it, but that’s my opinion. Anybody else think that?

My IMDB name is from "THIS IS SPINAL TAP". Its a funny and popular movie.

I was about 12/13 years old when this movie hit theatres in 1991, but I actually never watched it until about five years ago. I remember it coming on TBS, TNT, etc. all the time years ago but for whatever reason, I just never watched it. It’s funny that after my first viewing, as I said, about five years ago, I really didn’t think the movie was anything great. I felt it was not bad, not that great, just okay. Over the last several months, the movie has been airing on Fox Movie Channel a lot and I decided to give it another viewing and now I can’t get enough of it. My only regret now is that I didn’t watch it as a kid when it first came out. Also, sad to think that Patrick is now gone.

He ruined that DEA sting operation and was hanging out with the person he was trying to catch and couldn’t realize that it was him? He then chase Bodie all the way through the south Pacific knowing full well that he would be at Bells Beach for the 50 year storm.

Or at least what was the character’s name? Was he the "surf rat"?

I saw this film earlier today for the first time in years, and it just seemed like I KNOW I’ve seen that kid somewhere else. Anybody know the actor’s name?

I don’t know if it’s necessary for a spoiler alert on this, but just in case…

Anyway, I don’t know really anything about Buddhism. And certainly, people of any personal faith can be bad and corrupt. Having said all that, how could Bodhi rationalize his faith which was everything to him (eg. changing his name, constantly speaking/sharing his philosophies, living out his creed as a Buddhist) reconcile his religion with the crimes of bank robbery and killing? How could he be so faithful to his religion but have this truly evil side of his life?

I really think this movie gets overlooked for great dialogue. I mean towards the end when Bodi tells Johnny "Looks like this time you don’t get your man…..This game we both lose." That’s brilliant!!! I remember moving and telling my best friend this before I left and I added on "I’ll see you in another life Johnny!" just to make comedic relief so it wasn’t so sad.

Or that other quote, it’s so real, especially now that I graduated college and am a slave to the corporate world. "It was never about the money…it was about us against the system. To be free and not be like every human in their metal coffin inching across the freeway like a lost soul." I might have messed up the quote but you get my drift….everything he says is soooo true.

There are more but anyone else agree this movie has great lines and not all are cheesy.

    1. An ideal time to whip out the lawn mower and start mowing your lawn is when armed FBI agents surround your next door neighbors house.

    2. One does not need a background in law enforcement to get hired by the FBI…stating on your resume you were an ex college football quarterback is enough.

What does a blind man fetching rocks off the bottom of a pool have to do with being a Federal Agent? I mean this isn’t a job flippin burgers at your local drive-thru. Yes, the surf board bothers me. Yes, your approach to the whole damn question bothers me. And yes, for the love of Christ, YOU BOTHER ME!

Truth is a lot of people slam this movie for all sorts of dumb ass reasons. However it is flat out one of the most entertaining action films ever made. And it has some great comedic lines to boot. I know this because I was in Saigon when you were still crapping your diapers. Welcome to sea world kid!

Have been a Big PB fan for years. I first saw it when It came out on VHS in the UK I dont think I was even 10 but still LOVED IT! But when I watch it these days I cant help feel a little sad. Maybe it just reminds me of better days (like mentioned in other threads) No internet, No mobile phones, trailers on VHS tapes, When plots didnt have to be amazing alsong as there was plenty of action and when waiting for movies was a Big thing. maybe its the film itself. The story itself in a way is kind of sad, you left with alot of questions (that arent really supposed to be answered) and its one of those films that doesnt really have a Fan base of people who "got" the whole idea of surfing being that important to people. Or maybe its just the knowing that all the elements of it that I love wont be repeated again. Lori Petty will never be as hot, the ex presidents will fade into history, swayze has passed on and Keanu has gone on too far bigger things. Probably a mix of the three. Anyone else feel a little diss heartend whenever they see it these days?

I guess the movie never really addressed exactly who Bodhi was or where it was that he came from. Has there ever been anything written on the subject. I was merely curious about what his real name may have been and what his past was like.

Anyone care to speculate on who this guy may have been?

He obviously seemed someone who slipped through the cracks of society. He was certainly quite intelligent and athletic. He also seemed quite good at fighting and tactics in general. Could he have been in the military or in law enforcement at one time? Probably the conventional wisdom choice here would be no that he was not. But you never really know where he came from.

He seemed to display a ton of athletic ability at different points in the film (ie playing football on the beach, outrunning Johnny, etc). Could he have a background just like Johnny in a sport? Perhaps.

How old do you all think Bodhi was? I guess since Swayze portrayed him, we think of him being late 30s/early 40s.

Did he grow up on the West Coast? What sort of socio-economic group did he belong to?

Anybody care to do a profile of who this guy was and where he exactly came from?

Interestingly, even at Bell’s Beach sometime after the LA bank robberies, Johnny didn’t even seem to know exactly who Bodhi was. You’d think that he would have recited some info on him when he came up on him at the surf’s edge just to show Bodhi that he did his homework.

Maybe Bodhi was a DB Cooper type in that nobody knew who he was.
