Does anyone else feel there is a vast misread message on this film?

You have Princess who represents Sex.

You have August who represents Violence.

In much of culture (especially American & middle-eastern), violence on TV/movies is accepted. However, sex and even mild nudity is not.

Are people blind to the striking parallels between August and Princess?

Princess’s actions twist and pervert Mia.

August’s actions hurt and ultimately destroy Mia.

We all see and share August’s disgust in Mia mimicking her mother’s dancing and behavior. A child far far far beyond her years in action and experience. However do we not see the same things from August? The whole seen with the crowbar may have been one of vengeance for Mia – however what is doing, but mimicking August?

I’m not sure this isn’t as much a commentary on violence in the media as it is anti-porn movie.

In the ending scene, why isn’t Multe present on the beach ?

I felt that was unfair to him.

The music in the film was fantastic with original music done by Mads Brauer and

Casper Clausen, members of the band Efterklang. I’ve been trying to find out the name and artist of the dance song that played during Charlie’s party near the end of the film. Does anybody know?

" The final shot in Princess was not a pleaser or a sales booster it´s was importent for me that life is not crap! Even if people *beep* it up there should be hope for them … the thougth was that now August and Mia can do anymore bad to them selfs "

The grammar is useless but I think he ment " now August and Mia CAN’T do anymore bad for themselves " .. Whatever that means.

I did NOT like the ending, it should have ended at the house but I have an alternative ending if it needs to be a happy one..

They survived the explosion and because August was a priest he fixed their tombstones and people thought they where dead but for them things got finally normal.

I assume it was Charlie and the end at the cemetary ? oh and did they go to heaven ? Actually I am confused right now. HELP..

Hey, this movie showed up on my radar a little while ago and knew had to see it sooner than later. Caught the trailer on one of my movie websites and definately hooked me. Been having a little trouble locating a copy of DVD though. Did good amount of research i.e. Amazon, Ebay, dvd websites, best buy etc but no luck. All I get is like disney princess and that kind of stuff, no mention of just Princess. Figured it’s been out for about 2 years so some form of DVD should have made it’s way to U.S. by now. Was hoping someone could point me in the right direction of a website or store that might carry it or be able to order it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

In the beginning (05:34) you see in newspapers Christina’s necrology with birthdate 15 juni 1975. But at her grave (01:15:32) is birthdate 6.5.1968.

My take on this movie is that it is about people’s view of porn (and sexuality in general for that matter) and that it is the marginalization of people in the "sex trade" (or people that just enjoy sex in general) that makes a mess. It is this pushing it into a deeply dysfunctional "shadow" culture that allows the horrors and abuses to develop. It is in the hidden shadows of our culture that demons are formed, and we are all responsible, collectively, for these demons, IMHO.

August was deeply flawed, but reflects how most people approach this stuff. He ended up judging his sister (along with most everybody else in society) and pushing her away through his disgust and revulsion at what she was doing (even though he felt he had the best of intentions- to "save" her)- that’s what pushed her into the state she was in- people treated her like a monster, so she became one. She is like a few people I have known in my life- they get called "whore", "slut", etc, but nobody makes the effort to understand them (or, heaven forbid, accept them as they are), they just judge and push them away. So the only acceptance they find is in the "arms" of those that would abuse and exploit them, double and triple damning them.

Now in terms of how August dealt with Mia, I feel that what he should have done is actually talk to Mia openly in an atmosphere of acceptance, get her to express how she felt about her experiences (and put his own feelings aside rather than projecting them on to her)- by trying to "shelter" her, he was doing more harm than good, confusing her by not explaining anything to her, and to then pull her into the whole revenge thing, he then started doing as much harm as the abuse did to begin with.

    ***Spoiler***

As for the ending, I think it could have ended at the grave. The final shot was just a bit of whimsy, I could take it or leave it. But I think the shot with Charlie at the grave basically says, people like him will always be there, trying to destroy them only makes them stronger, what we should try to do is not empower them to begin with- for every one that is judged and marginalized, there will be a Charlie to exploit them.

My take on this does come from a personal experience- as a child I was sexually abused, but I didn’t tell anyone because I was afraid of being called a queer- there are more dimensions to it than that, but that’s the crux of it. It’s why I feel homophobia enables abuse. Something to think about…

And this movie, in the end, leaves you with something to think about.

To me its sounds like the creater of this flick was inspired by Get Carter fra 1970s. I mean stuff about a girl lured into the porno-industri, her death, and family member (uncle, brother etc) taking revenge against the people he feels killed her.

This movie is extremely black and white. Bad people are very bad and deserves to die; Good people are very good and obligated to kill bad people (and leave a bloody mess) – there is no middle ground.

This movie could have been amazing, had Anders Morgenthaler added some grey tones.

    What do you think?
