Yes of course… till date, no indian movie could make it into any of the IMDB lists… But RGVKA could do that.

It is #35 on the Bottom 100!!!!!

We all should be proud of that…

Dont you ppl agree with me???

I am a big amitabh fan and i have to agree with everyone else hearing about it. It was rubbish for two reasons. THE STUPID PEOPLE DIDNT GET THE RIGHTS FOR THE CHARACTERS NAMES OR TITLE AND FROM READING THE PLOT IT SEEMED TO BE SCREWED UP.

It seems many of us just vote this movie down because he tried to tamper with a classic, forgetting the fact that while many of us didnt like, its nowhere near one of the worst indian films ever made, theres tons and tons of bollywood garbage shoveled every year, and the public just laps up its masala nonsense with an ample amount of pointless songs, non-sequitor comic reliefs, and generic plots, most always involving some retarded love subplot.

"RGV ki aag" made it to the bottom 100 list of IMDB. Three cheers to that!!!!

If there was an Indian equivalent to Razzies, this movie might have swept all the top awards including worst movie, worst director, worst actor (shared by Amitabh, Ajay Devgan and the third guy), worst actress (Nisha Kothari) and worst cinematography

I mean, how could he think about acting in such a pathetic movie… and how could he bare a monkey and a sasquatch that took the famous lead roles. Amitji, please do us a favor, and stay out of the remakes of you OWN movies. We love and respect you dearly, but can’t stand to watch such crap like this.

Not as bad as I thought it would be – it would be wrong to make comparisons to SHOLAY – it was never a remake just a tribute to a great film and in my honest opinion RGV pulled it off in a stylish and modern way.

Im not a fan of Bollywood I havent seen any of their films in over 20 years but had to see this as the original was one of my fave top films of all time – films are remade quicker than ever these days whether they be Bollywood or Hollywood and critics get off on pointing the finger and labelling.

The film had some flair in the form of direction and original content – some nice camera angles and perspective shots.

Bachchan is cool as *beep* and pretty convincing as the psychotic bad guy with his nervous twitches and tongue quivers.

Fair play RGV it was a nice tribute all is forgiven – just wish these freshies would give it a chance and not be so shallow and blinkered with their flaming attitudes – I bet 90% of them havent even seen it !!!!

Thanks again – it was done well !!!!

Mehbooba – absolutely loved it – wonderful strings and great vocals – excellent Amitabh drops – this is a truly great track that will probably be sampled over and over again – cant stop listening to it – fantastic !!!!

    Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

AMITABH BACHAN IS GETTING MORE AND MORE OF A JOKE EVERYDAY.

He thinks he is such a good actor but he comes across as a pretentious fool in his films. He’s had his day and will never beat Shah Rukh Khan. Only an idiot can remake Sholay.

    Ram Gopal Varma ki Aag

Cast: Amitabh Bachchan, Mohanlal, Prashant Raj, Ajay Devgan, Nisha Kothari

    Direction: Ram Gopal Varma

    Rating: 1/2 *

And so dear ladies and gentlemen, this Lifetime’s Worst Ever Movie Award goes to Ram Gopal Varma ki Aag, widely reported to be a remake of Sholay Jo Bhadke. The jury was unanimous in awarding it all its topis.. trophies.. whatever.

So imagine, it is my privilege to call upon G P, Sasha, Ramesh and Kiran Sippy to hand over the topi to the producer-director who has literally opened up a can of Varmas. The Worst Film topi has been bagged hands and legs down by RGV who has made a mockery of a classic. May we request all the Misters Sippy to refrain from violence please?

Varma receives his topi and states, “In my very original film, the drunken scene, the propose-to-the-mother-in-law comedy business, heroes called Heero and Zeero, a widow and a chatterbox chulbulli are merely coincidental. I pay tributes to Coppolaji also. If Heero and all have irritated you, I promise to irritate you much more next time. Thanks.”

Wait, do say something about your Worst Director Award. Varma reads from a dialogue chit, “Direction – what, where, when? I was just making ten other movies at the same time. Thanks.”

Huh? And the Worst Actor as well as the Worst Actor in a Negative Role Awards (so much confusion nowadays) goes out to Amitabh Bachchan for the hammiest, over-the-top, yucky delineation of Babban Gabban Singh. May I request my ENT specialist to hand over the topi? Doctor could you please inspect Mr Bachchan’s nose before you hand over the award?

ENT specialist does. The Worst Actor and Negative Role winner laughs, “Ha ha! That was just a Himesh Reshammiya touch. If I dug into my nostrils, it’s because I’m a director’s actor. He also told me to flick my tongue around when a rape scene was in progress. He told me to yell, sit as if all my limbs were in a kathak pose and behave like Jack Nicholson meets Johnny Lever. He also made me wear a potato gunny sack.. very hot it was.. prevented me from a haircut for 100 days.. and painted this little worm on my nose. I dedicate both these topis to him and Kaizaad Gustaad who got me going downhill with Boom.. or was it Jhoom Jhoom?”

Clap clap. The Worst Actress Award have been jointly grabbed by Sushmita Sen who wore hundred kilos of make-up for a suffering, widow’s look.. and to Nasha Kothari for wearing denim fig leaves for skirts. May they please hand over the Worst Awards to each other? Oh, only Miss Sen is here. Wonderful!

This review is more entertaining than the film itself…hahahaha

I had to watch sholay three times before I could wash my mouth off the bad taste which is RGV Ki AAG!

th eonly reason It doesnt get a 1/10 is for the urmila dance, so it gets a 2/10

    and thats being REALLY generous…

dont know if anyone will ever read this, seeing as to not many people come to this particular forum, but what do you suggest as the best antidote to AAG??

Why…So..Serious? Let’s put a smile on that face of yours!

Watched this film yesterday due to all the hype, got to say that I was impressed. Please people this is not a remake of Sholay more of a homage to the 70’s and 80’s revenge flicks from India. Ram Gopal Varma has just tried to pay respect to this era and this is his own take on the genre. I am not a big fan of the new Indian cinema but grew up watching films in the 70/80/90’s (sholay/shakti/kaalia/mard/akhree rasta/hathyaar) and loved this film.

If Quentin Tarantino can pay homage to blaxpoloitation/asian cinema/grindhouse why can’t Ram Gopal Varma pay homage to the 70/80’s revenge era?

Everybody is saying this is a flop!! This only shows the limitation of Indian people and why they can’t digest anything new and different. In time to come this film will be viewed as a cult film. Please remember that Al Pacino’s Scarface was deemed a flop when it first came out….what about now?

Indian cinema isn’t all about bubble gum films with happy endings…your thoughts?

Urmila Matondkar will appear in RGv Ka Sholay, but not as a part, but will be in a remixed version of "Mehbooba Mehbooa" from the original Sholay, sung by R.D. Burman, and picturized on Helen.

    http://www.indiafm.com/news/2005/11/26/6281/index.html

The shooting for RGV Ka Sholay should be starting soon, because he has to start another film, that has to be launched in June 2006, but he has promised to finish the film before then. Actually a cool bit of information, I bought the December 2005 magazine of Stardust where it has a four page interview on Amitabh. He said that it only took him eight, thats right 8 days to finish his shooting of RGV’s "Sarkar". At that speed, RGV Ka Sholay might be finished within a month!

HE WAS IN KALAAPANI – AWESOME PERFORMANCE. COMPANY – ANOTHER GREAT PERFORMANCE. AND NOW THE REMAKE OF SHOLAY. THIS I REALLY GOTTA SEE. THERE AREN’T A LOT OF SOUTHERN INDIANS BEING NOTICED IN BOLLYWOOD. THEY SHOULD BE KNOWN.

in the starting when ajay devgan and raj go to meet some gangster for a job, the scene was shot without raj (i dont know why, maybe he wasn’t cast yet) and he was later added in the scene. whenever he is on the camera no one else is, we just see an arm over him supposedly heero’s, but whenever we see heero in that scene both his arms are hanging loose and he is standing alone. even in long-dist shots heero is alone.

Yes, we all know this movie was horrible, the action was okay, but it just is wrong. Even if it weren’t to be inspired from Sholay it would still be a mediacore movie. Hey atleast Big B did the best, and I’m a huge Ajay Devgan fan but he was on the downside in this movie. Big B, the best, everything he did in this movie was amazing. The only reason I kept on watching Ki Aag is because of Big B, he was freaking awesome.

Also I remember someone pointing out who would put the main hero from the orginal movie as the villian in the remake. That made me laugh, but I have to say why not? What can be so wrong with it? I love Big B. He plays an awesome villian, the best we’ve seen in ages. RGV messed up big time, if Sarkar Raj is a flop the media will be going crazy. They will go mad if Sarkar Raj flops, I’m seriously, I really want Sarkar Raj to be as big of a hit as it can be. I just loved Sarkar.

Big B is the only person worth watching this movie for, only him. Parshant Raj seems like an okay actor, he was just pulled into a bad movie, so he couldn’t really show off his skills. Just wanted to point out somethings in this topic, see if you guys agree.

    Peace In The Middle East.

This film is so bad that I feel angry just writing about it. Well, when I first heard that they were going to do a remake of Sholay, I thought NO WAY. That film is a classic. Everything about that film was more or less perfect. The acting, the direction, the music and of course the villain.

So anyway, as I knew that this trash would not be able to compete with the original, I went in with an open mind. I went to see it as a stand alone movie so not to keep comparing it with Sholay.

Boy, what a mess. As a stand alone movie, the acting was bad, the story line was awful, the film didn’t flow, the songs were out of place, the direction again, was so bad that I could film it better on my Nokia mobile phone. The score made no sense, it kept on going from loud to quiet to loud again.

The impact of the inspectors family being killed had no impact. In the old film you felt for him, you saw more of that scene. Here you only hear about it and briefly see his family. The death of Raj. What a joke. Heero? A bigger joke. The scene where Raj asks for Gungaroos hand in marriage via her aunt. Pathetic. They tried to make it funnier than the Amitabh scene but it was embarrassing to watch. Even the poor imam guy. You couldn’t even like the guy. In the old film when Ahmed died, that was moving. Here, it was aaaaahhhh.

Please don’t go and see this film. Its not worth any penny. I have nothing good to say about it, sorry, ok, maybe Urmila, who looked HOT.

    No remakes should be attempted…..EVER.

    Thanks

most say that amjad khan as gabbar singh is the most menacing act ever done.but i felt that his best is from inkaar where he played a kidnapper starring vinod khanna.in sholay he had dialogues to support his act.but in inkaar his body language and looks conveys everything.

Guys. Ramu’s sholay is just a borrowed skeleton.

    Here is the difference:

Sholay: Song dance story of two heros who save a town blah blah

Ramu’s sholay: Dark story of mumbai’s Underworld (Remember Company , Shiva, Vaastav?).A cop’s bitter desire for revenge and two guys who do the job.

    Sholay:Homer’s Iliad

    Ramu’s Sholay:Saving Private Ryan

    Sholay:Light hearted action

    Ramu’s Sholay:Harsh , Bitter , Extremist,Realism

As i like the New version’s idea, I donot care about reviews or what u guys think
