if ford didn’t return as solo, how do you think you would liked the film ? or if his idea of solo killed through self-sacrifice in the begining was done.

If you wonder how the empire was defeated, then you completely missed the point.

The point was that military power doesn’t matter who has the edge, but the force does. FOr years it was on the empire’s side with the Emperor and Vader. But then Luke came along. At the end of this movie, the Emperor and Vader die and Luke lives on, so the empire has none of the force on their side anymore while the rebels now have Luke. As a result, the empire is helpless. THe force was now on the side of the "good guys."

Of course, there are other reasons at the end of this movie which lead to the fall of the empire, but the force shifting to the side of the rebels was the main reason and the whole point of the climax.

Would it be worth making? I’ve always wanted to see the further adventures of Han, Luke, Chewie, and Leia.

I’ve heard a bunch of people say that he wasn’t sexually attracted to her and was just keeping her chained like that to humiliate her. But what about all the time he spends stroking her or pulling her against him? For someone who isn’t attracted to humans, he sure spent a lot of time touching her.

Always thought of it as childish. My favorite movie of the older films but seriously, small muppets with rocks and sticks killing the feared Storm Troopers? Every single one of them got pwned to the ground by these small bears. It should have been the Rebel soldiers Vs Storm Troopers instead.

The little "victory party" in the aftermath is simply laughable, movie should been given a "G" in rating.

I watched the movie again and in the end when Obi-Wan, and Yoda appear (during the celebrations), Anakin Skywalker also pops up. What amazed me, was that Anakin was played by Hayden Christensen. What’s up with that? I mean the movie was made in 1983, right? So my question is that was he cut into the movie or smth? Cuz when I was younger and the II and III movies hadn’t been made yet, well I don’t think I remember Hayden Christensen in the end. I mean don’t get me wrong, I liked seeing young Skywalker from later on made sequels(Christensen). I’m just curious.

Lucas didn’t really develop that any further past the revelation. Luke discovers Leia is his sister. Luke reveals it to Leia. Leia reveals it to Han. Other than revelations, it really has no purpose in the story.

"If I had to choose, I would say this is the least of the Star Wars films. It lacks the startling originality of the first two. It’s more concerned with loose ends and final resolutions." – Roger Ebert reviewing the special edition of "Return of the Jedi" in 1997

This is the big weakness of the prequel trilogy. As good/great as they are or try to be, they are ultimately weakened because of being overly "concerned with loose ends and final resolutions."

The original 1977 film just "flowed" because it did not have to worry about that stuff. It just was. And it was great.

Just wondering which Hutt song was favored, the original, or the new song in the remake. Personally, I think ‘Jedi Rocks’ lacked the grove that the original ‘Lapti Nek’ had, but that’s my opinion.

I admit this is the only one out of the original trilogy that I never got to see at the theater. I was living in a small remote town when it came out in 1983 and I wanted to see it so bad, but the town had no movie theater. I saw the paperback book in the grocery store and had to settle for that instead. It was good, but didn’t give a good description of what Vader looked like under that mask. I had to use my imagination.

They survived the impossible…by doing the unthinkable.

Maybe I didn’t get it, but I was wondering: How come Darth Vader changed his mind and betrayed the Emperor?

Yes, Luke said that "there was still good in him" but didn’t Yoda also say that, from the moment you choose the Dark Side on and become evil, you can’t go back to the Good Side?

Plus, if he WAS still good, then why did he wait to watch his son die to do something? If I recall, when Padmé died "because of him", he didn’t do anything except get angrier and more evil.

What I mean is, he can’t just look at this son and get all nicy and fathery when he has been mad and angry and a killer for like twenty years.

So what did happen in his head, exactly, that caused the Emperor’s death, which by the way, I found awesome?

It seems like having the Death Star creating it’s own force field from a source on the Death Star itself should have been priority #1.

As well as a re-design of the power core so that it wouldn’t be so vulnerable to a ship flying in there to blow up the DS.

The first DS travelled through space.

Was this one going to as well or just stay in range of the force field from Endor?

Also, couldn’t Han and Chewie have just blown it either by bombing it or by flying in low firing weapons on the shuttle?

CGI looks fake because it is fake.

After re-watching the other two films, I decided to give this one a re-watch as well. It still holds up pretty well I think. This movie strays away from the dark tone of Empire, and goes back to the "lighter" tone of the original Star Wars, which is fine, but I personally prefer the darker tone of Empire over the lighter tone of Star Wars and Jedi. I think Jedi’s biggest problem is Jabba the Hut, who is just an annoying and unappealing character. Take that away, and you have a very fun sci-fi adventure film with nice special effects, passable acting, and funny little Ewoks. I also love Anakin’s redemption, and I think it’s one of the best moments in the entire trilogy. Anyway, all and all, it’s a very good finale, IMO, that’s inferior to Empire, but about equal with Star Wars (1977). My 8/10 rating for this movie still stands.

They tried to eat the heroes. They killed the Emperor’s best troops. They ruined the movie. But justice was later served: they are extinct.

The explosion of the Death Star rained armageddon to their forest moon. It’s a lifeless wasteland now.

Every shot from the front with the forest in the background moving by looks like it was done by a 10 year old or something! I don’t understand how you can spend millions of dollars making a movie and put something in it that is that cheesy and phoney looking! Also the scene where Han and Lando are talking in front of the Falcon is very cheesy looking as well!

In this admittedly morbid yet interesting post, I’ve made some effort over the last few years on these boards to compile a comprehensive listing of those cast and crew members affiliated with the Original Star Wars Trilogy who have since passed away. While it has been 30 long years, seeing such a large list can be someone shocking to those not expecting to see so many names from these films who are no longer with us. I’ve enjoyed IMDB greatly as a tool to learn as much as possible about so many people in the entertainment industry as well as the interest in knowing who is and isn’t still around from years ago. It’s a personal interest of mine. This all began with the absolute shock a few years back when I discovered Director, Richard Marquand had died 20+ years ago without having any prior knowledge of it whatsoever. It’s mind boggling all the details "you would never know" had it not been for the Internet. This lead to this detailed listing below.

The list below is simply what is currently publically known and isn’t foolproof. There are a number of extras, background characters, and such that people have simply lost track of and have no information on. There are a number of people involved that we’ll truly never know what happened to. I will say, a number of Ewoks have since died though I don’t list Ewoks, Stormtroopers, etc unless they were a specific character or did something distinctive onscreen that fans would remember them by. This listing is compliled mostly from the information available right here on imdb as well as some autograph sites who monitor "who’s still around" and have to mark off who has died in their listings. Any updates or information that can benefit this listing are greatly encouraged.
