Seriously. I can see this movie getting a cult following in 10 years. Maybe people will like it for being so bad or maybe it’ll be an enjoyable movie for stoners. Either way I can see this movie not being looked at as being so terrible 10 years from now. I just have that feeling.

Something that bothered me, what happen to Miguel? He was there when the place was closing down, they never bothered to explain if he survived or died or anything.

i still liked it. compared to some of Eddie’s more recent blunders in film, "Pluto" was a cool flick.

I mean his acting in dream girls weren’t half bad, and he ruined his chances of a an oscar by doing Norbit. Whats up with that?

I’m a Conservative, and thats my opinion on this matter.

This movie has been beaten up more then "Showgirls" and for really no good reason.

Granted it cost $100m but then again so do a lot of movies these days.

Its really a pretty funny movie, Randy Quaid cracks me up in every scene he is in.

Great visuals and Eddie Murphy does a good job.

Maybe it shouldn’t have made all its money back in the theaters but it should have at least done half of it and made the rest back over time with DVD and TV.

I blame the horrible total Gross on from what I remember a lousy Ad campaign, a studio with no confidence and a lot of Eddie Murphy haters.

I recommend this movie to everyone.

what’s WRONG with our planet? This movie is lightyears ahead of COUNTLESS blockbusters. I was expecting garbage, from what I’d heard. I just watched it. I was blown away!! It’s visually stunning! It’s really funny!!! It’s even pretty moving!!

I absolutely don’t understand the hate or poor box office returns…. this movie is AWESOME!!

I know I’m in the minority – but I get excited whenever I find something I like. I’m sure there are other fans out there.

X-Files 2 coming in 2008!! you KNOW it!!

i liked eddie murphy in the 80s. a lot. but now all he does are these terrible family comedies. i LOVED him in dreamgirls. the movie was pretty good. and eddie murphy was great. but because he keeps making movies like this, he will never get an oscar. he needs to do like robin williams did in the 90s. stop making the stupid comedies and start doing dramas. robin williams, a great comedian, got something like 5 oscar nominations before finally winning for good will hunting. if eddie would start making more serious dramas, and less stupid comedies like this, norbit, the haunted mansion crap like this, and the upcoming meet dave, maybe in in 5 years and a couple of oscar nominations, he may win one. but until then he has to start taking more serious roles. or actually do some real comedies like my favorites like beverly hills cop, trading places, coming to america and 48 hrs. i am looking forward to beverly hills cop iv though, as long as its good. but please, eddie make some real movies that people will like.

When Pluto and company enter his hideout on the far

side, there is a rack of jackets in the background.

The one in the front kind of looks like the jacket

Eddy Murphy wore in Beverly Hills Cop.

    Anyone know if that’s true?

(there seems to be lots of little references like this

in this movie…it’s too bad everyone is more focused

on how bad financially this movie did…)

For me, "Pluto Nash" was average, but leaning towards the good side as a comedy flick. In fact, it made me laugh on several occasions. Now I know it was a pointless, and for some irritating kind of film, but I want to know what people hate about this film in detail.

    …Now, GO!!

It was made 20 years too late.

Hollywood just doesn’t remember how to make a simple, fun movie anymore. Can you honestly imagine Coming to America or Trading Places being made today? The studios aren’t willing to make a movie that isn’t over the top with explosions and pie-sex jokes.

    In 1982 this movie:

Would have featured a Eddie in his prime.

Would have to focus on writing and limited sfx.

Would not have been so "family-friendly".

Scifi was still an acceptable film genre.

People didn’t take everything so damn seriously.

I’m not saying that this exact production would have worked had it been released as-is in the 80’s, but had it been made during that time with that culture, it could have been fun.

Anyone else miss the simple innocence of the 80’s comedy? (or actioner or horror for that matter)

I have not seen this movie, but I wonder…..What is the possibility that the character is named after Richard "Beau" Nash, who was basically a night club manager/casino manager/ entertainer to the nobility? Beau Nash lived in the 1600’s-1700’s and was the "Master of Ceremonies" at Bath, in SW England. His job was simply to make sure that everyone who visited Bath had a good time, most especially the nobility and royalty. Anyone know if Murphy’s character is based on Beau Nash?
