Just saw this movie for the first time.

Steve Martin simeltaneously tap-dancing and juggling, it doesn’t get much better than that!!!!!

Really enjoyed this film – brilliantly zany – the sort of film that Steve Martin does best – it’s a shame they stopped making these movies as soon as the 1980’s ended, though Father of the Bride had some great moments.

I remember seeing this movie when i was a kid, and it had some scenes that i remember clearly, but aren’t on the dvd, at least not the one i have.

The first one is when Steve Martin and his evil wife are in the car, and he hears the "brain" calling for help. So he steps on it, rushes back home and finds he left her (the brain) in the sun light. So he asks her to say the alphabet. She does so, but forgets the letter Z. He asks her how is called the animal with black and white stripes, and she says "a ebra". Then he asks her where they keep it, and she says "in the oo". So he says sadly: "The sun burned your Z cells." Then his wife walks in asking him wtf was his problem driving like a maniac, and she is totally grossed out from seeing the brain. I think she says "it looks like melted tapioca" or something similar.

Another scene is at his demonstration in Austria, where he opens a dead body’s head and finds 3 lemons instead of his brain…. i remember someone from the audience gets up and starts yelling at him in german (i didn’t know german too well then, so i don’t know what he said) anyway, the guy looks really pissed and is threatening him or insulting him…. then steve asks another guy beside him what he said, and the other guy translates for him "Welcome to our country, have a pleasant stay, we admire your work very much, etc etc…."

man, this is one of few boards that doesn’t have a lot of haters! lol

my fave line has gotta be "i couldn’t fu ck a gorilla!?"

another fave scene is when he gets pulled over and they make him do all those difficult drunk tests….."ok, u can stop the subtitles now!" HAHA

Don’t you think it’s ironic that Kathleen Turner (in the present) looks the exact same way she did at the end of the movie?

I call movies that are considered ‘bad’ hated movies.

Oh no, I wish I had known this before renting the movie. I could’ve looked for him!

Can someone tell me what scene(s) he appears in, what dialogue he has, etc?

PS I think this is a great movie. Not as classic as The Jerk though…

    Learn something new everyday.

Just browsing the cast, to see who did Anne Uumellmahaye’s voice, and was surprised to see it was Sissy Spacek.

Although now I can vision it, I never really gave it a thought before.

Sissy is my favortie actress, and I’ve been meaning to see this. I know she plays the voice of the brain. But, does anyone know why she is uncredited? Does she have a big part? I want to buy it, also because Steve Martin is a genius. This looks hilarious.

    Thanks.

This films featured in one scene a young Jeffery Combs and given this is a parody of the whole mad scientist genre it’s funny that 2 years later he would play one of the most famous mad scientist in films history as Herbert West in the Re-animator.

The only version on the Region 1 DVD is "pan and scan". Let’s hope that the special DVD release of "The Jerk" does well so someone goes back and re-issues the Steve Martin/Carl Reiner movies ("All of Me" and "Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid") in the original aspect ratio. And add a director’s commentary while Carl is still with us! Also I understand that the DVD version of "The Man with Two Brains" is short abut three minutes from the original theatrical release.

I recall 17 years ago seeing a version of this movie in which Ann loses her "Z’s" after he sticks her jar in his closet filled with stinky socks. He asks her what she calls a black and white striped horse, and she replies, "ebra." I also remember a longer scene between Michael and jarred Ann out on the lake in the boat. Does anyone else recollect an extended version of this film?

Will someone please explain me why the movie is called The Man with Two Brains. The poster and the name are kinda misleading, it’s as if Steve Martin’s character has two brains. One brain is in the jar, I got that part. But the second one: Dolores’s? His own? HELP! Funny film, though.

I wonder if that is really her ass they do a close up on in the scene when they guy is willing to pay $15,000 to touch it.

Looks great if it was, but they did crop the shot so her head wasn’t in it, whihc makes me think body double.

Steve Martin cares about butts and boobs, then he realizes he doesn’t, then he cares about butts and boobs again, and then at the end he decides not to again.

Does anybody know the name of the Renoir painting in the beginning of the film, where K Turner and the elderly man fights, and the cat scratches the painting. The man cries "My Renoir!"

try to inject the attractive prostitute because she would continue to have an annoying voice regardless of getting the brain’s mind transferred. (And it turned out Michael changed his mind about injecting.)
