Am I the only one who believes this CLASSIC comedy just might be FUNNIER than the other funniest movie ever made, "Airplane!"?!

I was fortunate enough to see this movie opening night back in December of 1988 with a theater completely full of Naked Gun fans! To this day I don’t think I’ve ever seen an audience LAUGH SO HARD during a movie!

I have MANY favorite scenes, but my favorite is when Drebin drives his car to the police station and he parks it and then the air bags deploy and he starts shooting at it as it rolls down hill! "Did anybody get a look at the driver?" "Did anybody get a license plate?" then comes my favorite part. Drebin starts rolling his eyes from side to side.. "I’ve got to get…inside" CLASSIC! This might be the FUNNIEST scene I’ve EVER seen in a movie!

Anyway, if you think "The Naked Gun" is FUNNIER than "Airplane!" Vote and say so!

I love this movie. I think that Hollywood deserves a better class of comedy… like this (and not like Disaster Movie). But I may be biased, as this was one of the first really good comedies that I ever watched, further I saw it at a time when it was most effective (as a teenage boy of 14 on the HBO). So, if you really like comedies, or at least like this one, how old were you when you first seen it?

for me is one of the funniest moments in film. Watching Drebin beat up all those world leaders with the music in the background is nothing short of pure awesome. I could watch it a hundred times and still get a kick out of it.

The scene where Frank Drebin fights the hitman at the chemical plant. The hitman falls into a vat of acid. The next scene then showed only his hand emerged from the acid. An obvious parody of the Joker falling into the vat of acid from Batman ’89. HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE??

The Naked Gun was released in 1988. Batman was released in 1989.

Both this and 2 1/2 are rated ’15’ in the UK, while 33 1/3 gets away with ’12’. They have been re-rated several times recently, and are still ’15’. They could all easily get away with ’12’ especially compared to many recent movies (Meet the Fockers, the Austin Powers sequels) that are a lot raunchier and yet have their respective ’12’ ratings. Anyone agree with me on this?

I couldn’t make out what was in his freezer. I know it was supposed to be a joke because the camera lingered on it but I just couldn’t tell. Were they vegetables? Something looks like corn maybe. I even switched on the commentary and all they said was "That’s a pretty funny joke…" or something along those lines. Can anybody help me out?

that’s what I found when I type Naked Gun in the search box that there’s gonna be a 4th movie.. I’m not seeing it if it’s gonna be directed by the two losers who made Disaster Movie, Meet the Spartains, Epic Movie, Date Movie…etc

I consider this movie to be if not the, one of the most hilarious movies ever made. almost every time I watch it I am able to find honest laughs; from classy, dry, clever, near genius comedy. Nielson is a legend.

In the beginning of the movie, when Frank and Ed are in the car after leaving the airport, Frank’s talking about is ex, saying that everywhere he looks something reminds him of her. And then they pass these 2 "buildings" that look like boobs. I always thought this was just something they made for the movie, but it’s real! I drove past it on a cross country trip, and now for the life of me I’m not sure where I was at the time. Can anyone help?

I think this film definitely belongs in it.

…of course, I would put it in the Top 50 at least! It’s a legendary comedy EASILY in the ranks of Ghostbusters, Blazing Saddles, Holy Grail, Dr. Strangelove,… you name it.

If a Batman movie can suddenly take the No. 1 spot from The Godfather, I believe in a world where The Naked Gun can merge into the list and stay there. Let’s make it happen!

I dont know if it has a name, but I love it! Films like Airplane, Hot Shots 1 & 2 and Loaded Weapon 1 are in the same genre… Now Im wondering, what more gems are there? (Ive seen a few of Leslie Nielsens latest flicks but none of them was very funny)

Now that O.J. has been found guilty of all charges, and could more likely than not face life in jail, do you think it will dramatically affect your enjoyment of this movie, as well as the other movies in the series, and his character Nordberg in anyway possible? Yes or no?

I live in Britain, and I really like the Naked Gun films. One thing that I’ve noticed from browsing sites such as this one and a few others is how the first film is always rated as the highest. I found this strange, as I always thought that the first one was the weakest, although it is still very funny. I’ve spoken to my friends about this, and I haven’t yet spoken to someone who didn’t think that the first one was the weakest.

When I watched it again, I think that I worked out why. Most of us do not know the rules to baseball. I don’t find the whole baseball scene to be that funny, and neither do a few people that I’ve asked. I think that we may also find it a bit odd to watch a film about being excited over a visit by the Queen! It seems rather old-fashioned now! Also, I’ve learnt from the internet some of the cultural references in the film, and I’ve never heard of a lot of them, as I’m not from America.

However, I just posted to see whether this is just what me and my friends think. I know that asking people who I know isn’t very scientific. Any other British people on here? Or any non-Americans? If so, did you find this as funny as the other two films in the Naked Gun trilogy? I would be very interested to hear.

I remember enjoying this when it came out but I tried to watch it recently and it was too lame. I still like police squad though. I think the NG films were dumbed down for the general public and lost the subtle quality of the tv shows

Anyone think some should be made?

Core themes to use might include: What was Drebin like in his academy days or even when he was a beat cop? Who were his partners before he was teamed up with Ed or Nordberg? And what sort of people became his contacts or informants, like that guy at the shoe-shine stand in the Police Squad series?

This is the one joke I do not get. Can anyone help me? When Drebin is admiring Jane’s anklet, he says, "That’s a honey of an ankle bracelet you’re wearing," and she says, "Did that slip down there again?" I don’t get it! It’s been driving me crazy for 15 years. Can someone please explain this to me????

I think each of the three movies has its strengths and weaknesses.

-The first one’s a classic and the one that started it all, of course. But it’s still getting the hang of things and isn’t quite as zany as the sequels got.

-The second one is, in my opinion, the zaniest of the three with some of the funniest lines. The only criticism people have is that there’s too much political humor (incidentally, I agree with the politics, but it does sort of date the movie).

-The third one has that Untouchables gag everyone loves, and the scene at the Oscars is great. But it’s a different director and that makes a lot of people feel the series ran out of gas.

Typically if a movie is on cable, it is shorter. Things are cut for content or for time allotment. I saw this on television once and there were added scenes. A family eating in the outfield is the first thing coming to mind right now. I know there were more. Has any other movie done this? Where did this footage come from?
