i felt like starting one :)

I’m assuming everyone knows how to play, but incase you dont…

plus one for your favourite charater, minus one for your least favourite, when they get to 0 they’re eliminated, last one left standing wins!

    pretty simple :)

    ive already gone

    Sodapop Curtis – 11 (+)

    Ponyboy Curtis – 10

    Darry Curtis – 10

    Johnny Cade – 10

    Two-Bit Matthews – 10

    Steve Randle – 10

    Cherry Valance – 10

    Dally Winston – 9 (-)

feel free to add any characters if i’ve forgotten them!

Which scene makes you cry the most, or do you find the saddest?

(either in the book or movie)

In the book – the part where Darry and Soda show up at the hospital and Pony realizes Darry cares about him – that gets me every time.

In the movie – the part where Soda runs away and says he doesn’t like being the "middle-man in a tug-o-war". The way his voice breaks gets to me.

Dally gave Johnny a gun, I know he asked for it in the book, but not in the movie. Why would they need a gun if they are hiding out? I would think they would not want the gun, because they could risk getting caught more easily.

Wow, it’s been forever since I’ve been here. I’m sure most everyone who posts here now doesn’t even remember me, but I used to be a regular to these boards a few years back. It feels like forever ago. Hi to those of you who I used to talk to! And hola to those I didn’t lol Anyways, let me get back on topic.

When I started to drift from IMDb to myspace I found roleplaying. For those of you here who love to write (because obviously y’all enjoy the Outsiders lol) you should definitely check it out. The Outsiders RPs are dwindling. D: We’d love to have more! We are in need of literate roleplayers.

If there are any of you here who already roleplay let me know. :)

So because we maxed out the other thread, sadly we have to create another one!

Heres to the last game with a total of 551 pages!

Your guys last quote gave me an idea. What if our quotes had to relate to eachother. Kind of like eight degrees. We could try it and if it doesn’t work out, just change it. This may be hard because we used up so many movies from the last game, so hopefully we don’t have to repeat too much.

So Tys quote was from Twilight and Jp’s quote was from Shark Boy and Lava Girl. They both have one of the same actors. So to connect my quote to it I would put a quote from a movie with one of the actors from Shark Boy and Lava Girl. It could be anyone.

    Previous quotes by MC2"

    "How old are you?"

    "Seventeen."

"How long have you been seventeen?"

    " …awhile."

"You’ve got to give me some answers."

    "I’d rather hear your theories."

"I have considered radioactive spiders and kryptonite."

"That’s all superhero stuff, right? What if I’m not the hero? What if I’m… the bad guy?"

    Previous quotes by jbpinkmonkey24:

What I can’t believe is you dreamt me as a big round bad guy! I’m not bad!

You still hungry, Max? How about a knuckle sandwich?

Everything that is or was began with a dream.

Thats from Shark Boy and Lava Girl.

    New Quote:

"Billy was a sick f#%k just like you!"

-"No. Billy was a sick f#%k who tried to get away with it. Mickey is a sick f#%k who wants to get caught, yea! Ya see I got my whole defense planned out. I’m gonna blame the movies. Pretty cool huh? It hasn’t been done before. You see, this is just the beginning, a prelude to the trial. Cuz see that’s where the real fun is ’cause these days it’s all about the trial. Can you see it? The effects of cinema violence on society. I’ll get Dershowitz or Cochran to represent me. Bob Dole on the witness stand in my defense. Hell the Christian Coalition’ll pay my legal fees. It’s air tight Sid. I’m an innocent victim.

    -"You’re a psychotic."

"Yeah, well. Shh… that’ll be our little secret. Cause people love a good trial. It’s like theater. They’re dyin’ for it. And I’ve worked hard to give the audience what they want. See that’s what Billy was good at. He knew… It’s all about… execution."

If home is where the heart is, then my home is where you are.

    1. It’s been ages since I read the book, but what were all those women and kids doing up at the church in the first place? I thought the church was abandoned.

    2. Why were Johnny, Dally, and Ponyboy passing by the burning church? After grabbing a bite to eat, were they planning on going back to the church? Wasn’t Johnny supposed to turn himself in at that point, or were Johnny, Dally, and Ponyboy still unsure of what to do?

    3. What caused the fire at the church? One explanation is all the cigarettes Johnny, Ponyboy, and Dallas kept smoking while at the church. I wonder if it all started after Johnny fell asleep and a lit cigarette fell from his fingers. That was when Ponyboy said, "watch your smoke, Johnny". What Ponyboy didn’t realize was that the whole place would go up in flames.

I came across the list of the city exams for the New York City and there is an exam for carpenter and the minimum pay is $39.95 per hour! This is $72,000 per year! and thats just the MINIMUM. That was totally unexpected information for me. I always see it in books and in movies like the Outsiders and similar movies like these poor kids from the wrong side of the tracks don’t have the way out. But what is really preventing them from accomplishing more in their life if such exams and such pay is available? Like say Darry could totally do this. And even if he wanted some better profession than just being a carpenter, he could do this until he has enough money for college, and then go to college and study whatever profession he wanted to. Even a lawyer if that’s what he wanted. So, I really don’t see what the problem is.

A Mason for example is $34 per hour – so that’s $61,880 per year!

Plumber is $42 per hour – $76,440 per year! Whoa – I am reconsidering my career choices:)))

If you haven’t seen the film, this might contain some spoilers…

I was just wondering what everyone thought (in their own opinions, please dont start arguements, hehe) was the worst lines or scenes in the movie?

This isn’t meant to berate the movie, but there are only so many threads you can have of peoples ‘favs’.

For me it has to be when Johnny, Pony and Dally are at the church and Dally comments on Pony’s bleached hair, Pony then replies "I know i look lousy but don’t rub it in" – it always makes me laugh at how terribly he says the line.

Is the movie version with all the rock-and-roll music the 2005 version? I’ve listened to bits of the original soundtrack online, but it’s all orchestral, and I’m trying to locate the music for the "rock-and-roll" version. I can’t find any info on it anywhere. Even a listing of the songs will do. (I especially like the instrumental song playing when Cherry is driving her car and meets up with Pony, talking about seeing the sunset. The instrumental guitar song playing as the boys head to the rumble is great, too.) Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

1.Why does Dallas call the guys if all he was going to do was be killed anyways? He didn’t want them to save him so why did he call them?

And 2. Why does he say Pony’s name before he dies?

If I ever met someone like him and became buds, I would do the best I could to protect him.

This is a wonderful RPG site that includes many canons, including THE OUTSIDERS! It is a nitty-gritty reality based site based in New York City where old stories are reinvented. Here you can have a chance to reinvent the characters of The Outsiders to fit modern day New York society. How would you play Dallas or Two-Bit in a modern New York setting?

At Rewritten City, we give you the opportunity to rewrite the stories of old. Stories that stand the test of time. Stories that continue to capture imaginations. Stories about love. Life. Wealth. Power. Glory. La Bohème. Your imagination is the limit. Mingle with the other characters from other canons and build relationships, allies, enemies and more.

It almost ruins the movie for me. Seriously.

I actually like the scenes in the extended version, more closely alligning it with the story from the book and explaining things (like Johnny’s relationship with Dallas) that adds depth to the characters and why they do the things they do. But that new music really irritated me.

This has been bothering me for a long time. A lot of people say in the late 50’s, 1963 or 1966. Does anyone know which one it is? I was under the impression that it took place around the time S.E. Hinton wrote the book.

Stories affect everyone’s lives. It is why we are so engaged in movies and literature with great narratives. And, like it or not, the stories that we hear drives the way we live our lives. At Rewritten City, we are a role play site where the stories of old affect the progress of the stories that are new. The names of characters hearken back to narratives developed years ago. For example, one of our canons is RENT, a musical/film that is the product of an old opera entitled La Boheme. The Crow is a film a product of an old Indian legend about the crow that can raise people from the dead to right wrongs. The purpose is to choose your character – portray them, create them or fabric your own OC and join a world of characters from the past that live in today’s New York City. So all that is left is: What character to be and what character not to be, that is the question!
