I love Chuck Jones & Mel Blanc, but just saw this on TCM & 2 words come to mind: acid trip. I DVR’d it; thank goodness for fast forward. It was such a mish mosh mix of sappy, hackneyed, after school special meets psychedelia. At the end of the film, I thought Milo was coming down from his trip.

a re-make. I just watched it again to relive my youth. It’s not as magical as I remembered it. I think it could be remade into something really special.

It was my favorite with Dark Crystal, i am a kid of the 80’s and my mom bought me this movie when i was 4 in 1985 and i loved it.

They’ll have to find a talented 12 year old boy the part of Milo.

For the rest of the cast i would choose:

    Tim Allen as Tock.

Anthony Hopkins or Patrick Stewart as Humbug.

    Jack Black as Officer Shortshift.

    Ian Mckellen as King Azaz.

Linda Hunt as Faintly Macabre the Which.

Besides it being a lousy boring movie, did anyone notice that the cartoon Milo looks nothing like Butch Patrick , he looks like a 7 y/o not a 15 y/o.

Well i do! i loved this since i was little and was a childhood fave along with "The Dark Crystal", "The Secret of NIMH", " The Last Unicorn" ( Anyone remembered these three?), "Wizard of Oz", " Batman ( 1989)", "King Kong ( 1933)", " Indiana Jones", " Willy Wonka", " Pinocchio", " Ghostbusters", and " Sword in The Stone". I’ve seen it a bunch of times, i still love it today and have it on tape but it badly needs to be on DVD, someone please make a penetion to have this on DVD or contact either MGM or Warner to re-issue this movie on DVD.

Because if I was him and I wasn’t, I would most definitely not do this movie. If I were 12, maybe. But, I know that if a 15 year old boy were to act in this film, he’d get made fun of so much when he got back to school, hehe. If Butch wasn’t home-schooled, I give him major props, because he has guts. :D

amazing film, i wore out my vhs years ago. i hope they dont remake it, it would never be as eerie and pshycadelic using modern animation techniques. its like one long acid trip, if anyone were to remake it id want it to be henry selick and or tim burton

Why do I feel like this movie used to scare me?

Haha I haven’t seen it in forever, but I vaguely remember being afraid. Was there anything remotely scary in this?

That according to Butch Patricks Birthday (on IMDB) He was 17 when this movie was made , I have to differ because He did NOT LOOK LIKE A kid that was 17 y/o, A nice looking kid But could not be 17.

    anyone agree?

I was thinking if someone has the movie on video, they should divived each part of the part into seperates pieces that can run for 30 minutes each.

Tim Burton or Guillermo Del Toro

As soon as I saw this movie I thought, "This has Tim written all over it"

Then, I thought, "Guillermo could really do amazing things too!"

    What do ya guys think?

What if the guy behind "Pan’s Labyrinth", "Hellboy" and "Blade 2" could do a live-action and CGI movie based on the book? it can also have elements from the original movie such as the demons becoming one huge monstrous creature like in the original movie.

And maybe by then we can finally have this movie on DVD.

File this under "stupid post time" and I’m sure someone has already thought of this, but wouldn’t "Words" have won over "Numbers" because you can spell "One plus one equals two" and thereby do math with words, but you can’t do vice versa?

I’m probably going to get slammed for this, but it just suddenly hit me and I had to post it.

I have no idea what its called but this movie is similar to it.

The movie I’m looking for is part animated as well. I think I remember seeing it on Disney a LONG time ago. It involves a boy who goes underwater or something. I don’t really remember the rest. I just know that at the end it goes back to real film and he looks in this stream and he sees the animated people he met.

I know, not much to go on and sounds ridiculous but I’m just trying to find out what the heck that movie was.

    Any thoughts?

ever really get sentimental when they watch this movie, "What’s to become of Milooooooooooo" It really chokes me up when I’m watching this movie with my daughter because it takes me back to the days when all I had to do was walk home from school , do homework , eat , and get into mischief with my friends.

    Anyone else miss those days????

This certainly deserves a highly creative mind to revive interest in the book and to present a great visual interpretation. I’m 27 and have read the book recently — first introduced to me when I was in the 5th grade. It’s still enjoyable.

Maybe it can, with all the interest in Harry Potter, Lemony Snickett, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and so on. Not that any could compare to The Phantom Tollbooth, but in that vein of something fantastic brought to life.
