I thought it was a great movie, lot of unexpected twists and some scenes were awesome.

Does it have to do with average people seeing how rich kids live on campus through unearned wealth?

has to be one of the worst scenes of all-time (LOL)

the scenario (all the free cars, (WHY??)), the acting, and most of all – the song… all beyond horrible

I find it interesting that more is not said about the fact that Obama is related to at least 5 presidents and his African father was not born of slaves.

I do not believe that Obama was just the luck of the draw.

I live in New Haven, Conneticut, and I know at least four members of Skull & Bones. They all live in my upscale area. I have been in three of their houses and they are all huge. On has a plaque with a silver Skull & Bones on his dresser. Another has a wrist watch with Skull & Bones fingers on it. Anothers house lookes like a skull from the distance. The fourth one has an interesting mark that I once just caught a glimpse of on his wrist and when I asked him what it was he clearly lied to me. All four of them are Yale graduates, and all four of them go "out" Wendsday and Sunday nights. They are all gone for about five hours. They all leave at about the same time and all arrive back at the same time. I have never asked any of them if they are members and even if I did I know that they would lie. I was wondering if anybody else knew any members.

I just recently watched this movie with my girlfriend after she enticed me to see the sequels first. I saw Skulls 3, 2 and then the first in that order. After seeing the first skulls movie and the comment my gf made about the end and the possibilities it gave about the spiritual and mystical dynamics between Father and Son that i found was an intriguing underlining throughout the whole movie, besides the obvious relationship between mandrake and his father which was very commonly told in most movies. I was convinced that this Skulls was the best one out of the 3..now…to the subject.

My gf said to me at the end when Luke was walking away from the Senator and had whispered "Well done son, well done". My gf told me at that moment that He(the governor) was his Luke’s Father….now i was quick to challenge her theory because i mean why? Just because he called him son? The Hint of pride you sensed in his voice when he muttered "well done"…maybe? But i went back to certain parts of the movie and discovered there was another time he had called him son with Lucas actually in-front of him, when they were talking in the diner earlier in the movie. Now, why wasn’t it such a big deal then? I’m more convinced after seeing all the parts where Lucas and the Senator were together, that He saw himself in Lucas and in a lot of ways took him under his wing. Now, im sure alot of you guys when confronted or meet older respected men in some formal occasion, you notice they call you son sometimes. Not meaning litteraly, that they’re your father but whatever it is your talking about he is trying to give you "fatherly" advice or guidence regarding a situation…thats why they usually end with calling you son cause they feel after giving you such knowledge they’re compelled to call you son.

However, i will play devils advocate in admitting the ramifications that would present itself if…Lets hypothetically say He were infact his Father. Reason i say that is considering everything the Senator told Luke about what had happened, what was going to happen, and what could happen at the end before Luke walked away. If infact he was his father, he was i guess in some ways testing Lukes faith in saying after what he’d done for him, if he would deny him the consequences it could bring to his life. He challenged Luke and instilled a moment of fear in him to test his character. I ask myself would he actually go through with it and jeopardize his own son’s life? If you give it some thought, the senator was in some ways playing God, i mean throughout the whole movie you could never quite tell who’s side he was on. Anyway, i’ll leave it up to you all to elaborate on this in anyway you want, cause i think its interesting dynamic…that compels us to further evaluate the nature of the mystical relationship between Father and Son. Though in the end, it can’t be proven one way or the other if he was his father, such evidence or any hint wasnt presented in the documentaries, featurettes and interviews of the director and cast of the movie in the dvd release….so we’ll never know.

Life is Pain, anyone who says differently is selling something.

Did it annoy anyone else that he was the hero of the race, when clearly the 3 rowers on bow side had to work much harder?

OK, he was still the stroke which is important, but if he was doing all the work they would have been all over the place since there was an extra rower on his side! Extra power on stroke side would have meant the cox had to have the rudder on all the time – and they would have lost lots of power.

If the Skulls are so secret:

    1. Why does everyone on campus know who they are?

    2. Why do they have a GIANT (7-foot round) skull insignia hanging above their dorm?

    3. Why do they print the member names on each Rule book?

    4. Why would they even print a Rule book in the first place, knowing how easily it could be lost or stolen?

    5. Why would they carve really obvious Skull insignia into everything?

    6. Why would they brand their members in a really easy-to-spot place? Esp considering they’re all athletes who swim and otherwise hang out half-clothed?

    7. Why would they then wear a really obvious Skulls watch?

    8. Why would they all act creepy and suspicious and drive flashy cars? What better way to draw attention to themselves?

    And slightly off topic,

    9. Why would they pick a working-class stiff to join their ranks? Just because he can row well?

    This movie is totally ridic…

I actually think this is a really interesting concept for a movie. Everyone is fascinated by secret societies, esp. S&B since it is the most secret. When I saw the movie was coming on TV and my room mate told me it was about S&B, I was really excited to watch it….however, after about 45 min. in…I found myself scoffing at it. The acting was horrible and it was terribly unrealistic. If they had taken the concept of this movie and actually gotten good actors (i.e.- not Paul Walker) and made it more realistic with better writing it really could’ve been enjoyable. The only way I found it enjoyable was in the sense that it was so bad I found myself laughing out loud at it….

    Anyway…that’s just my humble opinion.

Oh, btw…my favorite line was, "she likes to eat popsicles after you make love" wowwwwwwwww, my room mate and I LOST it at that point, bahaha

I just watched this movie again on dvd and something the Senator stuck with me, as Lucas is walking out the door, Ames says "well done son, well done." Is he just patronizing him, or could the Senator be Luke’s unknown father? (his mother was killed when he was young, he couldn’t remember her face, and the father was unknown) Just a thought.

Are apparently members of the real "Skull and Bones" society.

They were both on Meet The Press, and Tim Russert asked them about this "secret society". They both said something to the effect of "Can’t say anything about it, that’s why it’s a secret".

This is pretty friggin’ weird. Why go on this long with a stupid society. And they’re the Presidental candidates!

I watched this movie again recently, and the one thing that I thought was rushed was the main guy’s decision to turn on the Skulls, I mean, they just covered up an "accident." I probably would go along with that if in exchange for wealth and power, especially because that reporter had it coming.
