At a recent lecture when asked ‘why did you choose to study advertising?’ This film was a popular response from the male students as thier reason! Any other films about advertising out there that can inspire me in such a shallow way that this is infact a good choice of degree? Tar

Dunno if this was discussed already…but was there a reason for him to wear black in almost every scene? There were like 2 scenes where he didn’t have mostly black on.

Okay, if I had to choose between those two it’d definitely be Marissa Tomei.

I just wanted smash his teeth in from the first moment I saw him on the screen.

He thought he was so cool, but the next morning after his accident he heard what those women from his office really thought of him.

"Lighten up on the after-shave, pal!"

"I believe you…but it’s not gonna save you" *bzzzzzz!!!*

Did the Asian woman at the end have anything to do with Nick’s power disappearing? I know lightning struck, which probably caused it to disappear like how it started with the hairdryer/water but the woman had this look of knowing something..like Nick learned his lesson.

I could be totally wrong but I just never realized before.

I have always wanted to know what women were thinking. What a great advantage I could have over the opposite sex if only I could get into their puny, shallow minds. Thanks to Mel "[email protected]" Gibson I finally know just how superficial and mindless women truly are. When they aren’t thinking about Mens crotches, their minds are filled with calories, second guessing, suicide and faking headaches to avoid sex. Rarely have I seen such an accurate portrayal of the female psyche, and feminists worldwide should applaud the notion of weak minded women being dominated by chauvinistic men both in the bedroom and in the boardroom!

Seriously people, this movie was about as enjoyable as a Tea Party convention.

Ok, seriously I do not get why there’s such a low rating of 6.3 on What Women Want. I would say this gets at least a 7.5. This movie I thought was great! It was put together nice and it had some great actors. Gibson and Hunt were great together and did some good acting. Plus it was very funny at parts and had some good romance to it. I highly recommend it to anyone that wants some laughs and good entertainment.

in the scene where Nick goes to her house to cheer her up and tells herthat ‘he needs a favour from her’ and she says "im so available" in a suggestive way bcos she thinks he is asking her for a sexual favor. whereas nick was only gonna ask her to come back to job and he says "no no not anything like that"

she also says "you dont know what im thinking right now, mr marshall" which again suggests she was anticipating a sexual move from Nick. nick tries to ‘listen’ to her thoughts but loses the ability

i think the girl had low self esteem and thought that she had to have sex with him to please him or something. nick could have laid her down and she wouldnt have easily given in.

Trying to understand a women is like trying to understand a schizophrenic. That’s why its dangerous for women to be in charge. The first female president will probably send a nuclear missile at China because they said she looked fat. Now men are logical, reasonable, rational. We will tell you if we have a problem. Instead of dropping 50 hints, subtle clues, etc. We also don’t ask questions when we already know the answer. You know if you’ve gained weight. So don’t ask everybody else about it.

I just watched this movie for the fourth or fifth time. The scene in which Helen Hunt thinks "Oh God, I looked at his penis" is the most hillarious scene I have ever seen. Everytime I watch it, I laugh out loud and watch it again at least one more time.

What is your favorite scene in this movie, people?

So here is how it breaks down. This movie is amazing. I’m a 19 year old college dude. I saw this movie when it came out on dvd. Then recently I signed up netflix (totally awesome service, by the way). I ordered "What women want," and it was so amazing. To really explain why this is one of the greatest movies ever made, I will break down its many bad ass elements one by one.

First off, the acting. While I don’t really care for mel gibson as a person, he’s a great actor. He really pulls this off well. His character really grows and develops throughout the duration of the film. He really shows a broad range of emotion.

He is the main character, but he has a great supporting cast. Helen hunt is good, marissa tomei is fantastic. Great cameos by bette midler and alan alda. There was no bad acting anywhere.

Secondly, the writing was very good. Great dialouge and character interactions.

Everything else was good too. They don’t dwell on how it happens to him. They chose to focus on how he changes as a person. Watch this movie. Its effing fantastic.

As a guy, I really love this movie and rate it as Nancy Meyer’s best work (although I’ve not seen It’s Complicated or The Holiday yet). Love the soundtrack, love Nick Marshall’s apartment and love the chemistry between the 2 leads. BUT WTF HAPPENED TO HELEN HUNT and why has she looked so emaciated in recent years??? She was so fresh faced in Mad About You. Paula Marshall, there’s a hottie who’s always looked so good and hasn’t bowed down to pressure….

Clearly these must have been put together by a man.

Big hint reebok, if you’re doing a commercial for SHOES for WOMEN, you might research your key demographic a bit better (as in, don’t make it look like a skanky beer commercial for men).

I can guarantee that most if not all women HATE these insulting commercials. Can we not even escape the objectification of women in a WOMEN’S SHOE commercial?

I feel like an idiot for saying this, but I just saw this movie on t.v. and… I really loved that commercial on this movie. I don’t like Nike, I don’t like to see product placement in movies, blah, blah, blah… But I have to admit, that commercial is really good. It’s sincere, honest. I guess it helps too that Mel Gibson narrated it. Does anyone know if it was created by a real ad agency, or by the writers of the movie? Did it ever run?

I could be wrong… But I recall a scene from the trailer when the movie first came out. Same stuff as what you can see on the trailers on the net now. But something extra. Mel was walking through a park or somewhere. He passes by a middle-eastern woman sitting on a bench. She’s in full covering, face mask and all. When he reads her thoughts, he hears her screaming in some foreign language.

    Anyone remember this?
